Good morning. Today's video Slow Me Down Lord is a poem of prayer asking the Lord to slow us down so that we can run this race of faith and not be weary, or stumble and fall, nor faint before the finish line of eternal life. You can view all previous videos by going to our YouTube channel Doctrine of Christ Ministry. Have a blessed and prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Job 1:6-9 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. (7) And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. (8) And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? (9) Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? (KJV)
We shared previously about our place in heaven and the opportunity to go before the throne of grace to find what we need; that first and foremost being the spiritual need. As we also discussed, there is an enemy that patrols the heavenly realm seeking whom he can devour. A wolf, or to use another example, a lion in the physical realm will seek its prey by sight and sound looking for a weakness or weak area to prey on and then take advantage of that. Our enemy to the Christian works in a similar way; while the Lord says we are seated in the heavenly places and able to operate in a realm above and beyond this fallen realm of the world, the enemy is listening in from time to time to find a weakness in God’s flock and to see if he can take advantage of it. While many have wondered at times what happened to Job and why would God test him that way, or so they think God tests His people, remember the scriptures are given for our advantage to learn from and not make the same mistakes; and as we read on further we will see that what happened to Job happens to others who don’t hold their position in the Lord, holding fast their profession of faith without wavering. 2 Timothy 2:12-13 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: (13) If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. (KJV) Know this also, that the enemy is described in Revelation 12:10 as the accuser of the brethren, basically running a smear campaign before the Lord to see if the mud he is slinging at them sticks. If it turns out that a believer has fallen and entered back into the fallen realm of the flesh and the enemy challenges their position, God cannot lie, even when it involves one of His people. It is vital that we keep a watch over our mouth making sure the words we speak are Spirit and life, not words that will separate us from our right standing with God. This is why it is so important that you as a believer in Christ know your rights and authority in the word of God so that you can continue strong in the Lord and not become easy prey for the wicked one. Job 1:10-12 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. (11) But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. (12) And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. (KJV) Did Job fear God for nought or nothing? Well obviously there was a fracture in the relationship because God could not lie and deny the fact that Job had put himself in the enemy’s realm and was no longer holding to a position of faith. God does not randomly pick His people to go through trials like this just to teach them a lesson, that’s nonsense, but rather it was Job that put himself in this position. Job 1:4-5 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. (5) And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. (KJV) So right before Job’s trouble, obviously there was an area of concern in his life, one that involved his own children, one he continually claimed involved sin and cursing. If we read the rest of this chapter we see the enemy had a field day against Job and even his grown children, which is what the enemy preyed on, his weakness and fear. Why would the word fear have anything to do with this? Job 3:24-26 For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters. (25) For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. (26) I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came. (KJV) Ahh hah, all that roaring and sighing that had been pouring out of him; the end result of his calamities then was not God trying to teach him a lesson but rather the fear and doubt he allowed into his life which resulted in the enemy hearing the prey and then pouncing on it like a wounded animal. Are there things in your life that are entering the heart and coming forth in the form of words, words that are not building up but rather tearing down? Do you know how to pray effectively, or have you become an ineffective prey of the wicked one? 1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. (KJV) The Word says we should be resisting steadfast in the faith, not giving the enemy an open door or a clear shot with his fiery darts. The enemy walks about seeking and listening, especially to God’s people to see and hear where they are at in their walk and if there is any weakness that can be used against them. The devil doesn’t have any power to pull you out of the kingdom of God, however if he can introduce doubt and get the believer to fall for a lie and then their own words will put them on his turf, that which is the artificial turf of this fallen world. Like a lion, as described in the book of Peter, a toothless one to those that know their rights in the Word, while others will be off and running to and fro at the roars of a loud mouth lying beast. Ephesians 3:10-12 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, (11) According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: (12) In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. (KJV) This confidence, boldness, and access we have is located in the heavenly realm and is available now to those that choose to operate in it and realize that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. The more you hold your heavenly position the less likely you will be entangled in the affairs of this life. Will you resist steadfast in the faith, or will you be running to and fro with every wind and roaring doctrine of the enemy? God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. John 3:27-28 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. (28) Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. (KJV)
Back in the Lord’s short time here on this earth people were looking for a Messiah to manifest which they thought would take place in the outward realm; some wonderful spectacular event for all the world to see. While many continue today to look in the outward realm also, or as we see in the above verses at other men as their savior; few understand what was truly given to us from the Father which is manifested and brought to light through His Son, the hidden inward man. What are you receiving today; is your information and knowledge coming from above, or are you settling for second hand knowledge of man that is limited by their carnal thinking? Do you know for sure that the steps you take today are of faith; in other words those that God is asking of you, or are you following some man-made plan of salvation that doesn’t quite add up to our Lord’s standards? Salvation is a gift given to mankind from above, and just as you would be offended to give something of value to someone close to you only to find out it wasn’t appreciated or that they didn’t take the time to read the instructions before putting it to use; how it must hurt our Father to have so much to give to mankind only to see it ignored and discarded for a cheap imitation. Psalms 37:23-26 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. (24) Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. (25) I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. (26) He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. (KJV) Where are you heading today, and who is truly directing your path? Are you taking the time to receive your instructions from above knowing they are in order with our Lord, doing the things that are pleasing in His sight? Even though at times we do sin and fall short of the glory, the Lord is not casting us aside but rather like with a parent teaching a child to walk, He is there with His hand outstretched ready to pick us up again and get us back on the path of life. John 15:4-8 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (6) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (7) If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (8) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. (KJV) Again we see the word nothing, which without the Lord’s leading and guiding in our walk we cannot do those things that are pleasing in His sight. As a branch grafted into the tree of life the only way we can live and continue in this new life is if we continue to receive our nutrients from the source. As newborn spiritual beings in Christ we need to receive and continue to nurture this new being inside us with spiritual food and drink in order to maintain a healthy relationship with our Father. Those that reject our Lord’s plan of salvation have broken off the line of communication with their Father; they are no longer receiving His living waters and they will dry up and die of thirst, eventually being burned. John 3:14-18 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: (15) That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (KJV) God gave us a Savior, and gave Him a name above all names so that those that received this revelation should not perish but have eternal life through this name. Verses 15&16 use the words ‘should not’ not ‘would not’, because the choice is still ours to choose this day who we will truly serve and whether or not we will truly receive the gift of God which is eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ. Acts 4:7-12 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? (8) Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, (9) If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; (10) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (11) This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) God gave mankind access to eternal life, and only one name under heaven gives us this life so that we should not perish but receive our eternal reward as well. It’s a given to the people of God who our one mediator between us and God is; as well as the whole name that will make us whole and complete in Him, that being Jesus Christ. It’s a given, have you got it? God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. James 1:17-18 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (18) Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (KJV)
Why should you expect the best? How about the fact that you serve the best, someone who always has your best interest at heart. When mankind was in dire need of a savior God gave us His best in the form of His Son Jesus Christ to restore the fellowship between us and Him, and give us the gift of life. When the answer to your prayers manifest you know it is of God because there is not a shadow of doubt that it came from Him and was just what you needed; at times above and beyond what you could have ever thought of or asked for. We have been reborn into a new realm of the Spirit by the word of truth so that we could tap into the tree of life and bring forth the fruit of the Spirit, now becoming rooted and grounded in the love of God which is shed abroad in our hearts. So when you come before the throne of God and make your requests, do you truly expect the best or are your prayers like throwing dice, hoping you will get a good roll? Romans 11:16-22 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. (17) And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; (18) Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. (19) Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. (20) Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: (21) For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. (22) Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. (KJV) You know Church this tree you have been grafted into is not one of chance or luck, but rather a sure thing to those that partake of it. Actually you are grafted into the tree of life which is Christ so that you can now be an active participant in a new life. A branch can break off a tree because of high winds, or in the case of a believer winds of doctrine that blow through which causes one to doubt and speak words that cut them off from the source of life. What is the cause for the branch being broke off; simple unbelief. What allows you to continue to partake of the root and fatness of the tree; simple faith. The more one stays attached to this tree of life the more deeply rooted and grounded they become in it and bear the fruit of it as well. God is no respecter of persons and didn’t play favorites with His natural branches which were the Jews, and He has now allowed any and all that would call upon the name of the Lord to be saved and partake of this new life in Him. As long as you continue to remain rooted and grounded in the love of God partaking of this tree of life you to should be expecting the goodness of God in your life. Psalms 23:4-6 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (5) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. (6) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (KJV) There are times that our carnal minds wander in the depths of despair, a shadow of death because we have allowed something to block the light from shining in. As a true believer in Christ one should be retraining, renewing their mind to think like our Lord, reminding ourselves that we are the head and should quit acting like the tail end. So once one is able to get their mind out of the gutter, that valley or low point in their walk, and recover themselves they are able to clearly see the answer the Lord has for them in verses 5&6. We have all experienced heartache and frustration in the past; trying to find peace in the dead realm of the flesh, exerting so much energy only to end up frustrated and defeated. Now that we are grafted into this new realm of the Spirit, a realm of victory, we need to be confident in the fact that surely, not maybe or possibly, goodness and mercy is now a part of my life and continues to follow me all, not just some of, the days of my life. God has prepared a table for you in His heavenly realm and is now seeking those that wish to be seated with Christ and partake of the meat of His word on a daily basis. The more you stay seated with Him the less you will be caught up and entangled with the things of this life, so that like with a branch, the fellowship won’t be broken again. Quite simply put, now that you are a part of the tree of life bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit you should continue to expect the best from our Lord and not expect the results you used to get from your past. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (18) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; (KJV) You are a new creature, a new creation in Christ, old failures, old results, old excuses are now passed away and your life should be a totally new experience, one of confidence and peace as well as a newfound inner strength that you never knew existed before. When you pray and make your requests to God through Jesus Christ, where there was once a shadow of doubt there should now be a new expectation of confidence, boldness, and assurance that your prayers are heard and answered. What was once a life of a day late and a dollar short is now replaced by an assurance that in all things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. Instead of being a loser and ending up with the short end of the stick, I can now expect my cup to be running over with living waters which flow from the heart and bring new life and shed light where there was darkness and despair. Are you living in the new today or are you still holding to the past, stuck in a valley looking for the way out? Do you really expect the best from God? Then start giving Him your best effort, because with what measure you give His way will come back your way. Sometimes the reason we don’t see our way out of a situation is because we don’t spend enough time seated in the heavenly realm to hear the message delivered by Christ and we end up stooping to the ways of the world. You need to spend enough time in the word of God renewing the mind so that you can take words like ‘I can’t’ or ‘it just isn’t possible’ out of your vocabulary and replace it with words like ‘I can do all things through Christ’ or ‘with God all things are possible’, and nothing I mean nothing is impossible to those that believe. A new creation in Christ means that what was impossible to man in his fallen realm is now possible and should be expected by those that are a part of this new realm, a new life made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord. Isaiah 42:8-9 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (9) Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. (KJV) You know, when you read the news of the world it is not really news or anything new, but rather the same negative things resulting from a fallen world. People fighting and warring trying to find peace in a realm the Lord said was dead, and there is no life. When one partakes of the word of God they are able to partake of a totally new realm, actually a realm where the victory is guaranteed before hand, with a promise of goodness and mercy all the days of our lives. If you give God your best then you can expect the best in return, letting His word be your one true source of life. Expect the best, because after all you serve the best. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. (8) For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. (9) And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (10) Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (KJV)
It is beneficial to the Church when one can accurately share their experiences with the Lord for the benefit of the body and not just a testimony to make themselves look special. A true man of God will point the people to the Lord and His work, and not toward mankind and what they claim they are doing for God. Paul was able to accurately describe his own personal experiences and insights with the people because it was done in humility and love, and not to build up his own following. Some think just because they have had a personal experience with the Lord that they are something special, and what was based on grace is now of works, or so they think. Some people hear the Lord through other people that God chose to speak through and thus base their salvation on the person, or denomination they belong to, rather than realizing it is God that was personally reaching out to them. And then we have those that think just because they spoke a word that brought life to someone, or even led to their conversion, it was their doing; thus causing them to think that in order to hear the Lord they have to listen to them. It’s the grace of God that allowed you to have access to His kingdom in the first place; and only His grace that will keep you there. So the more you realize this, the better relationship you will establish with the Father. Galatians 1:13-16 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: (14) And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. (15) But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, (16) To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (KJV) Paul realized for himself that when he tried to establish a relationship with the Father based on his own works and zeal, what he thought was profitable, was actually a hindrance to the Lord’s plan of salvation. Once he realized that his calling was of grace and not of works then he was able to allow the Lord to make the changes necessary in order to walk with Him. Is your walk today based in Spirit and in truth or are you still holding to traditions that actually draw one away from the Lord rather than closer? Is it God’s plan of salvation still, or have you come up with an alternate plan or route that you think will draw you closer? Acts 9:3-6 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: (4) And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? (5) And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. (6) And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. (KJV) Acts 9:5 [It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.]. This is a proverbial expression, which exists, not only in substance, but even in so many words, both in the Greek and Latin writers. Kentron (grk 2759), signifies an ox goad, a piece of pointed iron stuck in the end of a stick, with which the ox is urged on when drawing the plow. The origin of the proverb seems to have been this: sometimes it happens that a restive or stubborn ox kicks back against the goad, and thus wounds himself more deeply: hence, it has become a proverb to signify the fruitlessness and absurdity of rebelling against lawful authority, and the getting into greater difficulties by endeavouring to avoid trifling sufferings. (from Adam Clarke Commentary) Maybe that thorn in your flesh, the thing or area in your own walk that keeps you from drawing closer to the Lord, is just your own stubbornness and ideas; things you think will be pleasing to God. You know, if you left the ox on their own they wouldn’t plow a very straight path but rather end up doing more harm than good, thus why they need someone to keep them in line. You may not always like the path the Lord is leading you on, but rather than fuss and rebel it is simple obedience that is pleasing in His sight. Sometimes one becomes unequally yoked with unbelievers and the world’s way of thinking, and rather than working in the field they end up off course and confused. Is it the grace of God through faith that is guiding you, or are you zealous and set in your own ways on how things should be done and end up kicking against the goad yourself; the more frustrated you become the harder you kick? I know for myself when I truly look honestly at some of the things I have done or ways I thought would be pleasing to the Lord, I cringe at how foolish my thinking was at the time and yet humbled that I am still a part of His inheritance despite myself. Actually sometimes when I have thought back on some things I am actually embarrassed to think that my right standing with God had anything to do with my own strength or abilities, which can at times prick the heart and be a healthy reminder of our own weaknesses. So I can understand that when Paul looked back on some of the things he did, and then was willing to share those experiences, it could have easily been described as a thorn in the flesh and yet a reminder of how weak one is when left to their own devices. Not that we spend our time in the past, but sometimes it can be a healthy reminder, or like the Lord described humility, coming to Him as a child. Titus 3:1-7 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, (2) To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. (3) For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. (4) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, (5) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; (7) That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (KJV) Today can be described as a bit of a reminder of where we came from and how we got to this point in our walk. It is good to keep in mind what your source of strength truly is, and that your salvation has never been nor ever will be based on your works, but according to a plan that was developed for you by a loving merciful God of grace that allowed us to be partakers of His divine nature by the perfect sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ our savior. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 2 Corinthians 12:1-5 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. (2) I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. (3) And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) (4) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. (5) Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. (KJV)
Paul the Apostle, a man God used to write a good portion of the New Testament, a man who had some up close and personal experiences with the Lord; from his conversion on the road to Damascus as well as what we see described in the above verses. What some refer to today as an out of body experience, which could have occurred when Paul was stoned and left for dead; which back in his time was usually the case with those that suffered a stoning; and we see Paul didn’t base his strength or glory in his abilities and boast about these experiences, but rather in his infirmities or weaknesses he did glory in the Lord. While many base their strength in what they claim they are accomplishing for the Lord, Paul realized that there is strength in humility; the more he stayed out of the way, the more the Lord was able to work in and through Him. So what source are you drawing your strength from today? Is it according to your abilities, or are you drawing strength from a well of living waters which should be springing up and flowing through you? 2 Corinthians 12:6-10 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. (7) And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. (KJV) Did you ever imagine that your strength would be made perfect in weakness? Talk abut a total contradiction to what we have been taught all of our lives, especially when it deals with the image of what a real man is; take it like a man, be strong. How many action movies have you seen growing up where the main character is depicted as a humble servant, one that takes pleasure in weaknesses and infirmities? Most of these depictions are those of someone who is muscle bound and bullet proof, someone who relies on their own strength and abilities and certainly not on anyone else. Paul realized that when he was weak, then he was strong. Our carnal minds are what is enmity with God and what leads to doubt and confusion with those that rely on their own strength. If you want something to glory in, how about our infirmities; how the grace of God allowed someone like me into His kingdom and to be a partaker of His inheritance, despite myself and all the ways I thought I could help Him out. Are you being led by the Spirit of God today or are you the one trying to lead and guide Him, telling the Lord how He should be providing your way of escape from whatever may be a thorn in your flesh, or as some refer, a pain in the backside? When you share the word of God with people are you able to give an accurate account of what the Lord has done in your life or are you like so many who act like they have done so much for the Lord and that He literally couldn’t operate without their help? James 1:2-5 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; (3) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. (4) But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (5) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (KJV) When you have prayed about a situation that requires attention in your walk, which at times is painful, do you wait on the Lord and His way of escape or do you try to figure out an alternate plan based on your own thinking? This is the trial of your faith, an area where the Lord is working in you and desiring to see you move forward in your walk, while at the same time the enemy is doing all he can to keep you in bondage. So when the enemy comes in like a flood and tries to keep you from being set free in an area you have been seeking an answer in, the question is, ‘now will you endure patiently and wait on the Lord to find the answer and renew your strength or will you take an alternate route and end up on a dead end path’? Do you let the peace of God rule in your decisions and don’t make a move until you have that peace and confidence, or do you look for a quick fix that is less hassle? Remember, there is only one way, by the truth that will set you free and allow you to partake of the life of God which is given to those that walk by faith and not by sight. 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (KJV) Remember the old song ‘make the world go away’? While many look for quick fixes and escapes from reality the Lord teaches us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The more you rely on the Lord and the power of His might, the more you learn to deal with life in this fallen world and become an overcomer despite the daily temptations that surround you. So whatever the thorn in the flesh Paul was referring to, whether it was something from his past that was pulling him down or the devil reminding him of his shortcomings, Paul patiently endured and waited on the Lord for His way of escape and learned to bear it and not let it stop him. So this thing you have sought the Lord for, are you waiting and enduring patiently on His way of escape, or are you plotting your own way which will eventually lead you right back where you started from? Do you glory in your weaknesses; a phrase I like to use is ‘despite myself God still considers me one of His’, or are you one of those that think they are doing God a favor by what they are doing for Him? Galatians 4:12-14 Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. (13) Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. (14) And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. (KJV) You know, believe it or not, the people God used throughout the Bible are no different than you and I; but like we just read we all have the same common human infirmities to work through and overcome. Despite how mankind teaches that strength is something derived from our own doing, the truth be known, that when we are weak it is then that we truly are strong in the Lord and the power of His might. While many may think God used Paul because of his own abilities the truth be known, it was just the opposite; Paul realized there is much strength in humility. 1 Timothy 1:12-14 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; (13) Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. (14) And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. (KJV) Talk about a possible thorn or thorny issue to have to deal with; the very people you persecuted in the past are the ones you are now preaching to. God did not have Paul cut and run from the situation, but rather gave him the strength to deal with it so that what was once a hindrance to the body of Christ had now become a real asset to the body. So what are you dealing with today and what source will you draw your strength from? His grace is sufficient to make a way of escape no matter what the circumstance is. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 4:1-5 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? (2) For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. (3) For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. (4) Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. (5) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (KJV)
Williams New Testament Romans 4:1-5: 1. Then what are we to say about our forefather Abraham? 2. For if he was considered in right standing with God on the condition of what he did, he has something to boast of, but not before God. 3. For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham put his faith in God, and it was credited to him as right standing with God." 4. Now when a workman gets his pay, it is not considered from the point of view of a favor but of an obligation; 5. but the man who does no work, but simply puts his faith in Him who brings the ungodly into right standing with Himself, has his faith credited to him as right standing. When you really stop and think about God’s plan of salvation aren’t you glad it is not based on works? Or how about our reward of inheritance, that too is something that I wouldn’t want to be based on a debt, something I had to earn. If we all got what was coming to us or what we truly deserved based on works, then we would be back under the old grueling law, a place our Lord doesn’t desire for anyone anymore. Actually if we all got what was coming to us we would still be under a death sentence, separated from God, thus why He sent His Son to bring reconciliation to mankind. So what work did Abraham do to be in right standing with God, which is what the word righteousness means? If you said nothing (however, he was willing to believe in someone greater than himself), then you too would be headed in the right direction to be in right standing with God as well. Personally I am relieved, glad that salvation isn’t left up to me or my way of thinking, and certainly not according to my strength or abilities, but rather I can cast all my cares upon the Lord and let Him do the caring for me. In fact long before it ever occurred to me to cast my cares His way, even before the foundation of the world, God made a plan for my life, a path He chose for me as well as anyone else who was willing to simply believe in Him. Yet with that in mind, the simplicity of this plan by a God whose ways and thoughts are so much higher than mine, why at times do we still doubt or think we need to be doing something other than putting our faith in God and trusting in what He is able to do if only we will let Him? 1 Corinthians 3:18-21 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. (19) For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. (20) And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. (21) Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; (KJV) Strong’s definition for fool: 3474 moros (mo-ros'); probably from the base of 3466; dull or stupid (as if shut up), i.e. heedless, (morally) blockhead, (apparently) absurd: KJV-- fool (-ish, X -ishness). Now before you go out and start acting like one of the above definitions because you just read where Paul said ‘let him become a fool, that he may be wise’ keep in mind that many think they can instruct God on how His plan of salvation works which they base more on works than on believing. I mean, if mankind is so smart and intelligent then why when the word of God specifically tells us there is one Lord and one faith, that in this country alone we have thousands of different so called faiths; now talk about blockheads. What man calls wisdom! Especially the wisdom of this world and its worldly preachers who base their salvation on works and not a simple belief in the completed work Jesus Christ has done on our behalf. While many profess themselves to be wise, they are in essence fools when teaching any other doctrine than the doctrine of Christ and the work He has begun and desires to do within the believer. So when someone tries to tell you that you have to do something in order to be in right standing with God, which most of the time means giving more money to their organizations, simple truth is that it is your ability to believe in the message being delivered by Christ to His people on a daily basis is what will keep one strong in the Lord and the power of His might. How can two walk together unless they be in agreement? It would be to your advantage to build a relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ so that you can hear His message of faith firsthand and no longer seek the glory of mankind. Nothing is more foolish, absurd, heedless and stupid than to see a bunch of people patting themselves on the back and boasting about all the things they are doing for God, and not the other way around. John 14:8-11 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. (9) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? (10) Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. (11) Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. (KJV) Here is a different take on salvation, did you ever stop and think that this man Jesus of Nazareth had to rely on hearing and obeying in order to attain salvation for himself? While some claim he was God, the simple fact is that he was a man just like us believers seeking to please our Father; and that in order for him to inherit eternal life he too had to be willing and obedient to what God had planned for his life. Jesus was a man who was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power so that he could manifest God’s plan of salvation and be an example of how to live a life that is pleasing to Him. The same Spirit that worked in Him is in us as well. Now it is a matter of hearing the words of God and learning to speak not of ourselves but what the Spirit within is speaking. Jesus of Nazareth was the first born, or the first born again man into the realm of the Spirit, to demonstrate a life based on the grace of God through faith and not that of himself; willing to lay down His life for us. Are you in the Father this day and is His word working mightily in you? Are you believing in Him because of what He is doing or are you trying to base your salvation on your own works? In order to operate in the wisdom of God one needs to realize how futile and foolish their own thinking is. Matthew 6:31-34 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (32) (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. (33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (34) Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (KJV) Once you come into agreement with God’s plan of salvation, and the more you remain in that realm, the more you see it contradicts the way of the world. First and foremost one needs to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness then all that is needed is added after we hear His take on it. While many seek to take care of the outward man first which is foolish, few are willing to enter into the realm of God, cease from their own works, and allow Him to be their source. The Spirit is willing, it is the flesh and its carnal thinking that is weak and futile. God’s gift is of grace not based on our works; which is so simple and yet so hard for many to let go and trust in the Lord with all their heart and no longer lean unto their own understanding. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV)
Romans 6:23 [But the gift of God is eternal life] A man may MERIT hell, but he cannot MERIT heaven. The apostle does not say that the wages of righteousness is eternal life: no, but that this eternal life, even to the righteous, is to (grk 3588) charisma, the gracious gift of God. And even this gracious gift comes through Jesus Christ our Lord. He alone has procured it; and it is given to all those who find redemption in his blood. A sinner goes to hell because he deserves it; a righteous man goes to heaven because Christ has died for him, and communicated that grace by which his sin is pardoned and his soul was made holy. The word opsoonia (grk 3800), which we here render "wages", signified the daily pay of a Roman soldier. So, every sinner has a daily pay, and this pay is death; he has misery because he sins. Sin constitutes hell; the sinner has a hell in his own bosom; all is confusion and disorder where God does not reign: every indulgence of sinful passion increases the disorder, and consequently the misery of a sinner. If people were as much in earnest to get their souls saved as they are to prepare them for perdition, heaven would be highly populated, and devils would be their own companions. (from Adam Clarke Commentary) Salvation is a gift, it is not something one can earn, but rather something someone has already done on their behalf and given them access to. God’s plan of salvation comes to us through His Son Jesus Christ, that one mediator that was set up at the right hand of the Father to give us our daily instructions on how to walk in this plan. While many claim they are doing things for God, the reality is that only a few actually allow God to work in and through them to do those things that are pleasing in His sight. Philippians 2:12-15 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (14) Do all things without murmurings and disputings: (15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; (KJV) Strong’s definition for ‘work out’: 2716 katergazomai (kat-er-gad'-zom-ahee); from 2596 and 2038; do work fully, i.e. accomplish; by implication, to finish, fashion: KJV-- cause, to (deed), perform, work (out). To work out your own salvation means that you come to a working knowledge of God’s plan of salvation for you personally; what He is asking of you as well as your place in the body of Christ. You realize it is God that has begun a good work in you and desires to continue this good work so that you can receive His reward of inheritance. What I have seen with many Christians over the years is that when they come to the Lord they think they have to discard their own personality and unique characteristics that God gave them to present His word to others. What I see is a lot of religious clones, robotic images of what man wants them to be and not the unique individuals they are. So rather than let God work with them and refine these Godly characteristics, they become a cheap imitation of who they truly are in Christ; more like a cookie cutter assembly line product rather than the one our Creator had intended them to be. So don’t be taken in by a bunch of holier than thou goodie two shoes who think they are impressing God with their works rather than letting God work through them to deliver His message. We are the clay, God being the potter, so enter into His rest, cease from your own works, and let Him fashion and work with you the way He intended and not what others think. Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. (KJV) While we have so many different religions and doctrines of man that keep running in circles and in vain (which means empty or useless), don’t be like the many who still think they are earning their way to heaven based on their works. How would you like to run an endurance race and suffer all the heartache and pain that goes with it only to find out in the end you were disqualified for running the wrong course or trying to take a short cut? That is exactly what is happening to many that run in vain, who base their salvation on what others are doing and not on a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift, a gift of God which was given to mankind for their benefit; now it is a matter of how many are willing to receive it and operate according to His plan for their life, or walk a dead end path of destruction based on their own desires and not His. 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (2) (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) (KJV) This is a joint venture, a joint partnership with our Father, a gift given to us by the completed work of His Son Jesus Christ. Right now, today, are you hearing the message of God delivered by Christ so that you can walk the path of life He has established for you before the foundation of the world, or have you decided you know a better way? Basically that is what many are telling God, that they know better than Him how His plan works. Did you come to the Lord in the first place because you had your life so together and in control, or was it because you were in a tailspin, spiraling downward and ready to perish? If the latter of the two is the case, then at what point did you decide to take over the plan of salvation God intended for you and establish your own? This is exactly what happens when a gift based on grace is discarded and replace by one of works, dead vain works that promise so much and deliver nothing. Colossians 1:29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. (KJV) Our work, our labor should be to cease from our own thoughts and ideas and let someone who is mighty, work mightily in us. God is a Spirit and He is seeking those that are willing to worship Him in Spirit and truth, those that trust more in the work He is doing within them and not the works they are trying to do without Him. Your strength, confidence, boldness, as well as assuredness comes from what you allow the Lord to work in and through you by keeping your body in subjection to His spirit and keeping your own thoughts and ideas buried, not what you think you are doing for Him. After all, Jesus Christ is a tough act to follow, so it’s not like you’re going to do anything that is going to impress God, being the fact that our Lord did everything needed to restore our fellowship. Obedience is truly better than sacrifice, because a perfect sacrifice has already been presented and accepted by our Father; now He is asking us to receive His plan of salvation being presented to us through His Son. Hebrews 13:20-21 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, (21) Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (KJV) Those that mature or are made perfect, are those that are willing to yield to the will of God so that they can be well pleasing in His sight despite anything or anyone that sees different. If salvation is a gift, then it is not something that can be earned, but rather appreciated for what has been given and what has been done on our behalf, not on what we think we need to be doing on God’s behalf. It’s an unmerited favor that is being delivered to us on a daily basis by our hearing the message of Christ and following through to the end with what He is asking so that we have not run nor labored in vain. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (KJV)
Williams New Testament translation for Hebrews 4:16 16. So let us continue coming with courage to the throne of God's unmerited favor to obtain His mercy and to find His spiritual strength to help us when we need it. Have you ever seen in a show on TV where someone is walking towards the office of an important person and along the way someone tries to stop them from entering? And rather than heed the warnings the person marching through the hallway walks right in despite being told not to? This somewhat illustrates the boldness we should be walking in as well; a confidence that despite the principalities and powers in heavenly places that would try to keep you from going unto God’s throne of grace, especially in a time of need, you have every right as a child of God to go before His throne of grace with your requests, not only for yourself but for other members of the body, and receive His answer to them as well. So despite the opposition you will encounter, especially the closer you get to God, the more determined and bold you should be to anyone or anything that would try to impede your progress. So continue operating in the manifold wisdom of God, and remind any principality or any prince of the power of the air who you are in Christ and to step aside, as you are going to obtain the mercy and grace you are looking for. Fight that good fight of faith and don’t give in so easily or take a fall, but rather keep moving forward and don’t let anyone talk you out of the answer to your need this day. Hebrews 10:19-24 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, (20) By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; (21) And having an high priest over the house of God; (22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (23) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (24) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: (KJV) Strong’s definition for boldness: 3954 parrhesia (par-rhay-see'-ah); from 3956 and a derivative of 4483; all out-spokenness, i.e. frankness, bluntness, publicity; by implication, assurance: KJV-- bold (X -ly, -ness, -ness of speech), confidence, X freely, X openly, X plainly (-ness). You know that if you had legally bought and paid for a ticket to the theatre and the usher tried to stop you from entering, I would imagine you would be quick to point out your right and authority to enter in. Are you as confident, bold, and assured of your right to come before God’s throne of grace through His Son Jesus Christ or are you just hoping that maybe your requests will get through? Your right to the throne of grace has been bought and paid for in blood by the sacrifice of His Son; so now you have every right to draw near to God with a true heart in full of assurance of faith in what His Son accomplished on our behalf. However, if you are not sure and are not holding fast to this profession of faith without wavering, then you will have doubts and fears that your requests are not being heard or responded to. You know this confidence you are building and demonstrating, it can definitely be an inspiration to the brethren also, provoking them unto a love for God and being a doer of His good work. This access, this plan of salvation is yours for the taking, today, right now, so don’t let anything or anyone stop you or your prayers from being heard and responded to by our heavenly Father. Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (36) As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. (37) Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (38) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (KJV) Paul knew His rights and authority in Christ and was bold and confident in the fact that no one or no circumstance was going to separate him from the love of God and His eternal reward of inheritance. While some people wallow in pity parties thinking we are just sheep being led to a slaughter, Paul was quick to remind and provoke the brethren unto love and goods works, that in all things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us, that love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. So while others may struggle at times and forget the rights and authority we have by the name of Jesus Christ, we are reminded that one of the ways to provoke unto love and good works is to remind and encourage one another of the victory we have by His name. I can tell you boldly, that the people of this world who engage in lotteries and end up with a winning ticket will stop at nothing when it comes time to cash it in and collect on what is theirs. God’s desire for His people is that they would be just as bold and confident to come before His throne of grace as well and receive the spiritual blessings He has for His people which are rightfully theirs, those that call upon His name and respond in faith. 1 John 2:28-29 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. (29) If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. (KJV) Again we see that being a doer of the word accompanies our confidence we have in the Lord. You won’t have one without the other; so the more you practice what you preach, the more proficient you become at it. Practice makes perfect, a perfect love which casts out all fear and allows one to continue in a confident relationship with the Father based on a love and trust in His word. So what are you holding fast to today, and what are you confident in, your own works or the good work your Father has begun and would like to continue to perform in you? Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (KJV) Your love and good works that you are building a confidence in, is what Jesus Christ has begun; and I pray is continuing to perform within in you, enduring to the end. So today if you sense that confidence is waning, or maybe you are not quite as sure of what you should be doing, maybe you need to let go and let someone else be in control, letting Him increase and your own thoughts and ways decrease. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. John 11:23-26 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. (24) Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. (25) Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (26) And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (KJV)
Today it is a common knowledge that someday we will die and then be resurrected into the heavenly realm, or I should say that is the desire of every believer. However, if you notice the wording in verse 25, you will see our Lord makes the statement that ‘I am the resurrection as well as the life’, not I will be or have been, but I am, right now. Not only does He refer to Himself as the resurrection, but also the life; in fact by simply believing in Him we will never have to die. Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, (5) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (7) That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. (KJV) Thayer’s definition for quicken: 2227 zoopoieo- 1) to produce alive, to begat or to bear living young 2) to cause to live, to make alive, to give life a) by spiritual power to arouse and invigorate b) to restore to life If you notice in verse 6, the word hath is used, something that has already taken place and continues to. We were all dead in our sins; our old fallen nature kept us separated from the things of God so that we were not able to partake of the new life in Christ. Now that you are a partaker of this new life by being born again into the realm of the Spirit, Christ is resurrected in you, and allows you to be a partaker of His heavenly kingdom. You are now resurrected from a spiritual death, a separation from God, and have access to the throne of God through the name of Jesus Christ so that you can sit and hear the message of Christ on a daily basis. These are the true riches of an exceeding grace that is available now, not just some day in the sweet bye and bye. Colossians 2:12-13 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. (13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; (KJV) It’s a spiritual baptism that allows you to be spiritually risen with God from your dead end life in the flesh. Have you ever heard the term baptized by fire? Well, those that truly know the Lord have been baptized, identified as partakers of Christ by dying to self, allowing Him to resurrect and lead them on the path of life. In the Old Testament the children of Israel were considered to be baptized unto Moses as well, because the life they were now living was one that was following the commandments of God as He instructed Moses on how they should live. We too are identified with Christ, because we choose to be led by His spirit and not our old fallen nature which is influenced by the lusts of the flesh, thus giving us access to the heavenly realm. Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (KJV) You know, in order for there to be a resurrection there first has to be a death. Although many claim they want to go to heaven, few are willing to die to get there; which spiritually is something that should be taking place right now. Crucifixion was and still is a most excruciating way to die, and one that truly does keep the body in subjection. The Lord is asking His people to take up their own cross on a daily basis and die to self so that they can walk in newness of life being led by the Spirit and not the lower nature. So who is leading and guiding you this day; and are you headed in the right direction, taking a seat in the heavenly realm so that you can hear the message of Christ, and carry out His personal plan of salvation He intended for you to walk in? The life we now live should be a life of faith of the Son of God; what He has done on our behalf, as well as what He would like to continue to do in and through you. Now the real question is, ‘will you let Him’? Romans 6:3-7 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? (4) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (5) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (7) For he that is dead is freed from sin. (KJV) Remember what happened after our Lord was crucified? There was a resurrection that brought forth a new man. Those of us that allow our old nature to be crucified and buried will also experience the likeness of His resurrection by walking in newness of life, and not according to the old dead sinful nature. It is only those that truly die to sin who are freed from its deadly grasp, and are set free to walk in the Spirit and no longer fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Romans 6:8-11 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: (9) Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. (10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. (11) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV) Verse 8 begins with the word ‘now’; a now faith in Jesus Christ that the life we now live in the flesh is one that will be by the faith of Him. We should be dead to sin so that we can now resurrect ourselves alive spiritually unto God through the one mediator between God and man, that being Jesus Christ our Lord. John 11:39-44 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. (40) Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? (41) Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. (42) And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. (43) And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. (44) And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. (KJV) If you look at the spiritual implications of what took place with Lazarus, you can see the similarities of how it parallels our own rebirth into the realm of the Spirit. We too at one time were bound up in sin and our life did stink as well, being dead spiritually and separated from our Lord. Once the stone, or should I say the stony heart was taken away, a new life was brought forth by the word of the Lord and resurrected. We were all bound up with sin and unbelief, but now we are loosed and set free to serve our Lord in spirit and in truth. Is everyday a new day with you; has the Son risen in you to enlighten you to the new life in Christ, or are you still spiritually bound in some dark realm? Arise and shine, and Christ shall give you life again. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
