2 Timothy 4:3-5 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; (4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (5) But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. (KJV)
Williams New Testament translation of 2Timothy 4:3-5 3. For a time will come when they will not listen to wholesome teaching, but to gratify their own evil desires will surround themselves with teachers who teach to gratify their own evil desires, because their ears are itching so to be tickled, 4. and they will cease to listen to the truth and will turn to listen to myths. 5. But you, on your part, must always keep your head cool, suffer hardship, do your work as a herald of the good news, and so fill your ministry to the brim. Thayer’s definition for ‘sound’: 5198 hugiaino- 1) to be sound, to be well, to be in good health 2) metaphorically: a) used of Christians whose opinions are free from any mixture of error b) used of one who keeps the graces and is strong Rather than turning up the sound, that being the voice of God, many would rather turn down the volume and in essence drown out the source of life. When one looks around especially in this country, we see so many that are not in good health, but rather they are out of shape and weak. Spiritually the same holds true; though the spirit is willing it’s the flesh that is weak and so are those that choose to stay in that realm rather than stepping out into the realm where our Lord operates, that being the spiritual one. Oh but it is the fastest growing church in the area because they have learned how to reach out to those in the community and draw them in. Instead of drawing the people closer to God which can only be done with truth, many use gimmicks, worldly methods with worldly preachers who tell people what they want to hear and not what they truly need to hear. Case in point; though our Lord had a following for a season, when it came down to dieing to self and dealing with sound doctrine many chose a different path. Titus 2:6-8 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. (7) In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, (8) Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. (KJV) You will not and cannot have sound speech unless you are giving ear to sound doctrine, which can only come from the source Himself. With what measure you mete or allow, is what is measured back your way; so the more you turn up the volume, that being your spiritual ears, the stronger you will become in the Lord and in the power of His might. Thus the term ‘young men’; not a child or childish people who listen to childish doctrine because it makes them feel good. You know, you can eat a lot of candy and get a sugar rush that feels good, like a child who isn’t concerned about their health or the consequences of their actions, but if one desires to mature and grow up in the Lord it will take more of the meat of the word of God in order to accomplish this. Sound doctrine is not always fun to hear, or even easy to endure at times, but afterwards it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those that keep their spiritual senses exercised to discern between good and evil. You wonder why your body is out of shape and you are weak? It’s because you did what you wanted to and not what you needed in order to keep it maintained. You wonder why you are weak and unable to stand spiritually? Well, it’s because rather than give ear to sound doctrine you chose someone that would tickle your ears rather than build you up. John 6:63-66 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (64) But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. (65) And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. (66) From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. (KJV) You know, our Lord Himself delivered sound doctrine, pointing the people to the spiritual realm and away from the flesh and its fallen nature. I know of no one that delivered a more sound doctrine, as well as demonstrating what it is truly like to walk the walk; and yet with that in mind it says many went back and walked no more with Him. Just where do you think the many went? Well, there were plenty of ear tickling people pleasers back then as there are today; so rather than continue in their search for truth they chose a different path, you know that easy fun one where all the people are hanging out. Even today when someone holds fast to sound doctrine and denounces things that are unhealthy (like we spoke about yesterday; how people think it is ok to live together before marriage), or doesn’t agree with homosexuality or alternative lifestyles as some put it (which the only alternative they will end up with is hell instead of heaven because they held to the flesh which is weak and not to the Spirit which would make them strong and able to overcome what God says is an abomination), that which their life ministers or they preach is termed old fashioned or out of touch. 2 Timothy 1:7-8 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (8) Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; (KJV) You are not going to have a sound mind unless you give ear to sound doctrine. That spirit of fear that is tormenting you did not come from God, but obviously the enemy was given a clear shot at the heart that should have been protected by the shield of faith; you know, the one that is established by hearing, hearing the word of God and not man’s versions. You know that fun guy that tickled your ear last Sunday and told you everything you wanted to hear, he won’t be around on Monday when it comes time to take a stand for the Lord and the afflictions that come with being one of His. Kind of like that slick used car salesman that gave you a line about the car he just sold you the other day, you know, the one that would now be described as a lemon. Well that guy is long gone, laughing all the way to the bank, standing in line right behind the preacher that sold you a lemon of a doctrine also. 2 Timothy 1:13-14 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. (14) That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us. (KJV) The spirit is willing, the flesh is weak and so are those that don’t get built up in the word of God and stay built up. A perfect mature love will cast out all fear, because you are more willing to give ear to the Holy Ghost, looking within to find that strength and peace. Turn up the sound, because the more you give ear and practice sound doctrine the more sound you will be in your walk. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Williams New Testament translation for 2Timothy 2:15-19
15. Do your best to present yourself to God an approved workman who has nothing to be ashamed of, who properly presents the message of truth. 16. Continue shunning worldly, futile phrases, for they lead on to greater depths of godlessness, 17. and their message will spread like a cancer; men like Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18. who have missed the truth by saying that the resurrection has already taken place, are undermining some people's faith. 19. But God's foundation stands unshaken, with these inscriptions: "The Lord knows the people who belong to Him, "Everyone who bears the name of the Lord must abstain from evil." You know, when you became a child of God and embraced His message of love, it is at that point that we need to let go and discard things that lead to death, similar to a cancer spreading in the body. The reason many of these spiritual cancers spread is because someone chose to try and justify their lower fallen nature by twisting the word of God to fit their lifestyle rather than seeking to be justified in the eyes of the Lord. Remember that talk your parents had with you concerning the birds and the bees, and the one you need to have with your children concerning reproduction, what is and what is not approved by our Lord? Well it seems many who profess to be Christian or Christ like, naming His name, have not departed from iniquity but rather embrace it and find ways to justify their lack of diligence in the Word and self control of their temple. In other words a phrase that comes to mind, do as I say and not as I do. 1Thessalonians 5:22-23 Abstain from all appearance of evil. (23) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV) You know, it’s amazing how many people in the so called church realm, those that name and claim they are Christians, throw caution to the wind when it comes to relationships between a man and a woman. Rather than take the time to know that the person they are involved with is one they would marry, so many have the mindset that it is ok to shack up, live together outside of marriage. Times may have changed and the mindset of waiting till one is married to consummate this union seems so old fashioned, but let me tell you something that is much older in fashion, that is, living outside the realm which God blesses, sin, being under the curse. If you truly loved this person the way our Lord loves His church then you would respect that person enough to remain sanctified, spirit, soul, and last but not least folks, body as well. You wonder why there is a lack of trust in your relationship people, maybe the fact that the person you are involved with was so willing, and yes even easy with the body before the marriage; it makes you wonder what is going to be so faithful afterward doesn’t it? How about you guys, you know the one that is supposed to be the head of the woman, how much of Christ did you demonstrate and hold fast to beforehand, or did you cave in and give up without a fight? Oh but we’re just living together, God knows our heart. Yes He does, but what about others that are watching you now that you claim to be a Christian, especially when we should not even have the appearance of evil? 1 Corinthians 6:13-15 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. (14) And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. (15) Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. (KJV) You know, some day you are going to have to stand before God and give an account of what you did with His temple, which you just happen to be. The devil made me do it, or everyone else was doing it, won’t get you into His kingdom, but rather it will get you an eternity of separation from God because you were willing to sell your soul for a feeling. Not to mention the other person involved that you led astray also; you know the warning we were given about a millstone being tied around the neck and cast into the sea? Oh it sounds so old fashioned to many out there in the world, but all one has to do is take a look around and see how backwards things have gotten because many choose to please their flesh more than a God in heaven. 1 Corinthians 6:16-20 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. (17) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. (18) Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. (19) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (KJV) You may think a harlot is somebody standing on the corner looking for customers, but I got news for you, that nice so called Christian guy or gal that engages in sexual immorality, in other words anything outside of marriage, is considered a harlot as well. So guess what that makes you if you willingly partake in these practices? 1 Corinthians 8:12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. (KJV) Whether it is a brother or sister in the Lord, if you are the one that has wounded and enticed them into sin, especially an area where they may be weak in, you are in essence sinning personally against Christ Himself. So before you decide to be so hap hazard in your decisions and throw caution up with the winds of doctrine that seem to be blowing through the Church amongst God’s own people, it’s time you re-realize the facts of life concerning how to posses your vessel in sanctification and honor. Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (26) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, (27) That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (KJV) In conclusion, if that person really loved you the way you, a child of God should be loved, then that person would be spending more time building you up in God’s word and not tearing you down in the world and its ways. Christian man or woman, if that person you are thinking about isn’t willing to wait and respect you before there is a marriage or even talk of one, then there would be no reason to think they would afterward either. If that so called Christian person thinks shacking up or taking a test drive before the marriage is fine then that should be warning enough for you to kick him or her to the curb. You want the blessing of God in the relationship or anything else that you do, then it’s His way or the highway, a not so highway that leads to a dead end. Remember that talk we were given when we were children about the birds and the bees, well it seems like there are a lot of childish people who call themselves Christians who need to be taught again some of the basic principles concerning their walk with Christ and the fact that He doesn’t change with the times. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. James 1:17-18 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (18) Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (KJV)
When God sends something our way it’s not only good but it is perfect, complete, supplying all our need, spirit, soul, and body. When God so loved the world seeing how mankind had fallen, He sent His Son on our behalf so that the fellowship with Him could be restored and we could be a kind of firstfruits or one of His offspring, adopted into the heavenly family in Christ. Psalms 107:20-21 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. (21) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! (KJV) When you pray to your Father in heaven do you expect a complete answer and manifestation of that request you made, or do you expect bits and pieces, a partial answer to your request? In other words, with all that God has sent our way for our benefit, how much is being sent back His way in the form of praise and thanksgiving, presenting yourself to Him as a living sacrifice, thanking Him for what He has done on our behalf and not a what have you done for me lately attitude? Someday when you return to Sender and have to stand before your heavenly Father will you be able to give a complete answer to what you did with His plan of salvation, or will you be speechless and unable to give a full account of the gift of life that was given on our behalf? Ephesians 4:11-15 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; (12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (KJV) Williams New Testament translation for Ephesians 4:11-15 11. And He has given some men to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors and teachers, 12. for the immediate equipment of God's people for the work of service, for the ultimate building up of the body of Christ, 13. until we all attain to unity in faith and to perfect knowledge of the Son of God, namely, to a mature manhood and to a perfect measure of Christ's moral stature; 14. so that we may not be babies any longer, or like sailors tossed about and driven around by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men through their cunning in inventing new methods of error. 15. But, on the other hand, we shall go on holding to the truth and in love growing up into perfect union with Him, that is, Christ Himself who is the Head. You know, with all that God has done and provided for us is there any excuse why there are so many that rather than grow and mature in the Lord, which is what perfecting is referring to, we still see many babies who are being spoon fed and still on the milk of the Word. Know this also, that as long as there is still a body of Christ then there are still apostles and prophets, they didn’t die out with the early Church; people, that is just childish doctrine. If you truly love the Lord and made pleasing Him a priority in your life then you would take the time to read His word and rightly divide the doctrine of Christ and not be so caught up in a bunch of man’s fairy tales and childish lies and deceptions. If you truly desire to grow up and mature in the Lord then quit emulating man and go right to the source. You know, by following some man or imitating some preacher you think is a godly man you limit and stunt your own growth because this man you are following is human and limited, whereas going to God through Christ you are able to tap into an unlimited treasure of wisdom and knowledge, having the mind of Christ yourself. Romans 6:20-23 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. (21) What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. (22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. (23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV) What have you done with the gift of God, and what is the first fruit you plan on bringing to His throne someday; will it be one that is spiritual, or will it be rotten fruit that you are ashamed of? If someone in your family or anyone else that was close to you saw that you were starving and your family was in need of food, only to find out later that the gift they provided to feed your family was never used but rather discarded and rotten, how would that make them feel? Or what if you gave someone close to you a gift, something that was vital, even lifesaving, only to find out it was not put to use but discarded, you probably would not be jumping for joy either. So today, have you done all to stand, standing on the foundation God has provided for you, Jesus Christ being the only foundation one can build firmly on, or have you forsaken the gift of life and exchanged it for a cheap knockoff imitation? Luke 8:14-15 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. (15) But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. (KJV) With all that our heavenly Father has sent our way and desires to send for our benefit, what are you sending in return? You wouldn’t offer someone rotten fruit, or fruit that hasn’t ripened yet, but rather something that was fit and ready. The question today is, when you return to Sender will you be able to bring something to His table that is good and perfect; you know, like the same measure that was measured your way? God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. (KJV)
Luke 10:25-28 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (26) He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? (27) And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. (28) And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. (KJV) What do these two verses have in common? Well both verses deal with love, which is what the word charity means, and both deal with someone other than yourself. Now you are not going to go out and blab about all your shortcomings and sins to others, so the point being made here is why would you do it to someone else, especially those in the body of Christ? Most people, rather than deal with areas in their walk that can be a struggle or even something they know is sin, spend more time and effort covering it up rather than dealing with it truthfully. Those that do desire to deal with these issues and remove them from their lives do not wish to have them advertised or discussed in public, but are more apt to seek counsel from someone they can trust, someone who is not going to repeat everything they hear. Galatians 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. (2) Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (KJV) How would you like your situation handled? Especially if you were struggling with an area that you knew was wrong but you weren’t sure how to make it right. Do you consider yourself when hearing things about others? In other words, how you would like a little compassion thrown your way and not as much finger pointing. You know, the one without sin gets to cast the first stone; so again consider yourself, because as long as you are in this temporal body you too are subject to temptation and would not want your faults broadcast on the evening news. The restoration is brought about by those that are spiritual, those that are less likely to react in the flesh but know how to respond in the Spirit because they don’t think of themselves more highly than they ought. Hey why do you think these tabloids do so good and sell out? Because they pounce and prey on the weak, and then air the dirty laundry in public which appeals to man’s lower nature, but is an abomination to the divine nature our Lord asked us to partake of. Proverbs 17:9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. (KJV) You wonder why people don’t want much to do with others sometimes; because if they didn’t have other people to talk about they wouldn’t have anything to say. It’s not hard to figure out either, that if all these gossip groups which call themselves a church spend a good part of their time and effort pointing out the faults of others then you can be assured that they will be ripping you to shreds too once you are out of earshot. Not everything you hear folks’ needs to be repeated or passed on, but by knowing the love of God you will be able to rightly divide and keep it in prayer; you know, in the realm of the Spirit which is spiritual and so are the people that keep it there. Remember when you wound the brethren, which can be inflicted by words, you are in essence sinning personally against Christ Himself, which is not a good thing. Proverbs 29:11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. (KJV) Well if they weren’t sure about you being a fool before, all it took was a few minutes of listening to what was coming out of your mouth to seal the deal. Not everything that passed through your heart and mind is always healthy or needs to be spoken. Knowing the difference of when to speak and when to keep silence can be the difference between wisdom and foolishness. Oh you may know something about someone, but is it really necessary to be bringing it up at this time? Or maybe there is a more appropriate time and place to deal with it when it is done in a spiritual manner and not some self righteous carnal one. 1 Peter 3:8-11 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: (9) Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. (10) For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: (11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. (KJV) Oh but somebody said something about you so now it’s time to set the record straight? Well how about going straight to your prayer closet and hearing the correct response before you lash out in anger and make matters worse. Are you your own defense lawyer who thinks he has to justify himself every time something is said? Because remember he who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client. Do you truly love God and the new life He has given you access to? Then learn to keep that tongue in subjection to the Spirit so that the words you speak will be spiritual, bringing life, and not tearing down. Proverbs 11:12-13 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace. (13) A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter. (KJV) So your neighbor said something about you, and rather than operate in the Spirit and being a man of understanding, understanding the love of God, you decided to dish the dirt on someone else and blow the cover off of your being a fool. If you were faithful, spiritual, and understanding of how the love of God operates, not just how it works on your behalf, but actually demonstrating it on behalf of others, you would have kept a lid on your mouth and not become some spineless talebearer. The restoration that could have been brought about by those that should be spiritual ends up in childish strivings and contentions by those that try and justify their fallen lower natures instead of operating in a mature divine nature. Proverbs 25:8-10 Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame. (9) Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another: (10) Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away. (KJV) Brown-Diver-Brigg’s definition for ‘infamy’: 1681 dibbah- whispering, defamation, an evil report a) whispering b) defamation, defaming c) an evil report, an unfavorable saying Ever hear the term ‘tripping over your own words’? Well that’s what happens when you put all those negative words out there, they end up snaring you instead. Which category would you truly say your life patterns? Is it one of love, loving others as you would yourself, or do you have the mentality of the world, climbing over others to get to what you think is the top? Maybe it is time to put a lid on it. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 3:3-4 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? (4) God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
The proper perspective on all of mans’ holidays or traditions should come from God and His Word. So whenever man says so…make sure you go to God and find out what He says; letting God be true and every man a liar. Just as a reminder… Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? So dearly loved don’t just take mans’ word for it; instead seek God for the truth of the matter and let Him have the final say; letting Him and His Word be the judge and jury of the matter. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV)
We are bombarded this time of year by what man calls Christmas; and sad to say many so called churches have adopted this as a doctrine which they think came from God. In fact the reason this doctrine was ever brought to the forefront was because a bunch of wishy washy compromising Christians decided they were going to adopt this time of year as the Lord’s birth, which just happened to coincide with pagan rituals. Mankind’s downfall from the beginning has been when they would mix and match with other beliefs and things God said were forbidden. Kind of like rock music, where many think they can incorporate something carnal and outrageous and attach it to Christ. Yeah right, I can see the Lord now on stage acting like some imbecile out of control. Exodus 32:3-7 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. (4) And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, these be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. (5) And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, tomorrow is a feast to the LORD. (6) And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. (7) And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou brought out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: (KJV) Back in the day the children of Israel decided to adopt a pagan tradition, and then thought they could attach it to the Lord and He would be on board. You can take the people out of Egypt; however it was hard getting the Egyptian traditions out of them. These people thought they could follow the traditions of man and then offer sacrifices to the Lord thinking it would be okay. Well if it didn’t float back then, why would so many think it will today? Jeremiah 10:2-4 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. (3) For the customs of the people are vain: for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. (4) They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not. (KJV) As we see, this junk has been going on for a long time; same devil, just a different disguise. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? (15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? (16) And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (KJV) Many desire a closer relationship with our Lord, but in order to partake of the new you have to leave something old behind. Many today fall short because they try to hang onto old things and end up on the outside rather than in good standing with God. Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (KJV) So Church, enjoy this holiday in its proper perspective, knowing that we serve a God who can only be worshipped in spirit and in truth. Promoting a lie is not something our Lord has or ever will approve of; and let’s keep Christmas out of Christ and His doctrine. Remember, you can Google ‘Christmas Saturnalia’ or go to YouTube and check out the information they have concerning the origins of Christmas and you will get more truth than what you are getting from many of mans’ so called churches. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (KJV)
One of enemy’s best tricks is to make people, and yes God’s people, think that he is their friend by disguising the truth just enough to throw one out of bounds concerning what our Lord accepts as His doctrine. Every year at this time many are duped into thinking something special happened on December 25th. Now for those that have rightly divided the word of truth and see right through this phony façade they may spend this day together with family and friends but they don’t consider this day, or the doctrine of Christmas as something that is or ever was ordained of Christ. 2 John 1:8-11 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. (9) Whosoever transgresses, and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. (10) If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: (11) For he that bids him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. (KJV) The biggest problem with Christmas is when so called Christians make this a doctrine, and actually try to attach it to Christ. Every year billboards and signs go up urging people to keep Christ in Christmas. Well Christ is about as far removed from Christmas as He would be from gambling, drug dealing and prostitution; and it is not something He would endorse. Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, (5) And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, (6) If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (KJV) You know one of the first big red flags for the Christian (which by the way I am speaking to those that are serious about salvation and making it a way of life) is when you see the majority of mankind partaking of it. All one has to do is go through the Bible and compare the many and the few, and you will see that many are not headed in the right direction. If one really was to take off their carnal feel good blinders they would see right through this nonsense that takes place every year in December. In fact I would suggest that you Google ‘Christmas Saturnalia’ and you will see the true origins of how this doctrine came into existence. Today many are crucifying our Lord all over again and put Him to an open shame when they end up exchanging the truth for a lie. Hebrews 5:12-14 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (13) For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (14) But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (KJV) Rightly divide the word of God in everything you do; and be open to the truth so that you can grow beyond the spiritual day care centers that many today call a church. If our Lord isn’t attached to something, neither should His people. Again, for more information on the origins of Christmas you can Google ‘Christmas Saturnalia’ or go to YouTube as well and check out the origins of Christmas. Then you can ask yourself honestly if this sounds like something our Lord ordained. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Santa, satan, hmm, not much different is it? Just change one letter around and you basically have the same thing, or should I say same origin? As a child being indoctrinated with the traditions of man, I was able to see through them and realize there was no such thing as Santa. As one matures in the Lord they should be able to see through these manmade doctrines and traditions of man, so they can take a stand and no longer be caught up in satan’s clause. The holiday has become a road show of reindeer, winter scenes, elves, and the God substitute, Santa Claus, who serves as a front for merchants seeking to play on the guilt some parents bear for ignoring their children the rest of the year. Why participate any longer in this charade where the focal point of worship has shifted from a babe in a manger to a babe in the Victoria Secret’s window? No room in the inn has been replaced by no room in the mall parking lot.
Jeremiah 10:2-4 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. (3) For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. (4) They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. (KJV) Sound familiar? Rather than ignore the ways of the heathen, those that claim to be of God continue to allow these traditions and doctrines of man to prevail. Rather than taking a stand, many cave in and compromise so that they can fit in with the crowd instead of stepping out of the mainstream of deception. If one is not willing to take a stand now, what makes you think you will in other areas? Where your treasure is, there will truly be the heart; and when all is said and done, we are either with Him or against Him. Psalms 115:3-8 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. (4) Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. (5) They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: (6) They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: (7) They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. (8) They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. (KJV) Take a look around at all the idols that are placed in peoples yards this time of year. They may look good to the outward and have such pretty shining lights around them, but take a look at what the word of God says about them and the similarity between the idols and those that put them up; verse 7&8. Are you sure you want to partake of this, or is it time to take a second look and ask the Lord what He thinks of all this stuff? Matthew 2:7-11 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. (8) And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. (9) When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. (10) When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. (11) And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. (KJV) How many times have you seen the wise men depicted at the manger? Sound petty and trivial? If they can’t get this right, I question how many other things they overlook because of their lack of diligence. Basically what it comes down to is this, one person said it that way and the rest followed, not taking the time to check it out in the word of God for themselves. Note verse 11 which clearly states that they came into the house, not the manger, where they saw the young child. Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. (KJV) Are you walking with wise men today; in the wisdom and knowledge of our Lord or are you blindly following the traditions and doctrines of man based on emotions and not the Spirit? One will lead you closer to our Lord and the other will have you blindly worshipping Him in vain. Oh, by the way, there was a manger scene that did take place, and it gives us an accurate account of what really took place as all scripture does for our benefit. Luke 2:4-16 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) (5) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. (6) And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. (7) And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (8) And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. (9) And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. (10) And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. (11) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. (12) And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. (13) And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, (14) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (15) And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. (16) And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. (KJV) There was a Savior born into our realm to manifest God’s plan of salvation to mankind so that we could be reborn into His spiritual realm. Once you have been born again it is vital that you learn how to operate in the Spirit and not try to perfect it by the flesh and its traditions. God has stipulations, clauses in His word that point us to the truth and sets us free to worship Him. Satan’s clause is based on cheap imitations that appeal to the fleshly nature of man and are in reality an abomination in the sight of God. Before you dive head first in the traditions of man and follow the crowds, make sure there is some living water in it before you leap; otherwise you may find it to be nothing more than a mirage; ouch! That will leave a mark. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Galatians 4:9-11 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? (10) Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. (11) I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain. (KJV)
Remember back a couple of months ago when mankind went out and dressed up in all kinds of costumes, most of which resembled dead people and other abominations, going door to door trick or treating? Then we have some professing Christians who get up on their soapbox and condemn this holiday claiming it has nothing to do with God. So how come if you are willing to take a stand with that one, you cave in and celebrate these other manmade holidays that have their origins embedded in pagan worship? Have you taken the time to ever look at the origins of say Christmas and what the word of God says concerning this? Or are you like so many that blindly take it for granted, that just because many others do it then it has to be ok and accepted by God. Matthew 15:8-9 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (9) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (KJV) Where do these traditions originate from and what is the foundation of them? Are they founded on Biblical principles, or maybe these things are propagated by mankind and his desire to make gain by putting people in bondage to a retailer’s celebration which has nothing to do with the Lord. In fact many claim they are celebrating the birth of Jesus, which by the way did not happen on December 25th, another red flag for those that claim to be of God. In fact, if you go back to the origins of these holidays you will find most originated from pagan worship, then it was adopted by the so called church to appease the people. Last time I looked it said the truth would set me free, so would God tell us a lie to promote His truth? Deuteronomy 12:29-30 When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land; (30) Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. (KJV) Where’s the discernment anymore, and what do we base our lives on? I thought we were supposed to be different from the world; to be separate and base our lives on what the word of God says and not on what man tries to dictate. I thought we were to be imitators of Christ, and not those of the world. And yet having said all this, looking around, all I see is a bunch of false pagan worship based on pleasing man and not God. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV) Conformed; means to fashion after the same pattern. Jesus Christ gave us a perfect example of how to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Yet with the example and writings left to the Church, why are so many patterning their lives after man? Are we oblivious, or do we just choose to ignore the teachings and warnings in His word, thinking that a little fun can’t hurt anything? How true the verse about a little leaven leavens the whole lump! Just look around and see how many have sold out to the world and its way of thinking. Luke 16:13-15 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (14) And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. (15) And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. (KJV) Here is another red flag; when you see everyone else doing it that should be your first clue that it has nothing to do with the Lord. Are you going to tell me that these traditions and manmade holidays are there for any other reason except to make money, especially this one that takes place in December? No man can serve two masters because in the end you end up selling out totally, either to the Lord or the world. And if we are not faithful in the smaller matters we will not advance and grow into bigger things in the realm of the Lord. In fact eventually, if you are not willing to take a stand, you compromise your belief in God, which will end up in a continual backward process rather than moving forward. 1 John 2:14-17 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. (15) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (KJV) How did the young men become strong and able to overcome the wicked one, the prince of the power of the air, the voice of popular opinion and doctrines of man? By not loving the world and the things that are manmade, things that appeal to the lower nature, but are of no profit to the new nature within. They were able to tell the difference between what is of God and what is of man. The world and all its vain empty pursuits are someday going to pass away. The question is, will you pass away with it or will you be a doer and not just a hearer of the word of God? 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV) Are old things passing away or are you passing away in the ways of the world which contradict the things of God? Though we have known Christ in the past after the flesh and have allowed our thinking to be limited by our carnal fleshly minds, we should know Him no more in that way; rather all things including our thoughts and deeds should be a new way of life and not an old traditional one. So before all you hollow weenies get back on your soap box and preach your gospel, you had better make sure you have your own closet clean and not full of a bunch of skeletal remains of manmade traditions and doctrines of the world. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Luke 18:18-19 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (19) And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. (KJV)
Williams New Testament translation of Luke 18:18-19 18. Then a certain member of the council asked Him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to get possession of eternal life?" 19. Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me perfectly good? No one is perfectly good but God Himself. Why does mankind keep trying to make God in man’s image and likeness, and not the other way around; you know, the way God said He made it? You know, this man Jesus of Nazareth didn’t say he was God because that would have made him a liar now wouldn’t it? In fact he was quite explicit and plain in his speech to point out that he wasn’t God, but that he was here to point people to a realm where God operates, that being the spiritual one. Today we see so many people put on pedestals, placing themselves in positions of authority especially in the Church or what man calls a church, pointing people to their works instead of the completed work God had His Son do on our behalf. Oh you might have gotten saved at some organization or building, but keep in mind it was the word of God that brought forth this new life and not the person that was speaking on His behalf, because remember, God has spoken to people in diverse manners; one time through an ass so that someone wouldn’t make himself into one. Go to the source people, give credit where credit is due, that being to our Father in heaven and not to any man on this earth who claims special privileges because they may have spoke His word, or make claims of all the wonderful works they think they are doing on His behalf. John 14:28-29 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. (29) And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. (KJV) But the preacher last night said that Jesus was God, yet when I read what the Bible says it tells me something different. Get used to it folks, because the deeper you get into the word of truth the more complicated you see how mankind has made it, and how backwards the order is also according to man’s carnal reasoning. Jesus was a man, who just like you and I had to rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit in order for him to inherit eternal life. He was a man that was tempted in all manner as we are, yet chose obedience over sin, even to the point of the cross. A man that was conceived by the Holy Spirit, a pure blood line so that the last man Adam could be restored to fellowship with the Father just like the first man Adam was before the fall. Keep in mind people, that this Jesus of Nazareth was a man, a vessel that housed the Holy Spirit and set the example for us to follow, pointing people to the Father and His divine nature, and not to any man and his fallen one. Jude 1:16-19 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. (17) But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; (18) How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. (19) These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. (KJV) The whole point today is to keep in mind that when all is said and done, it is your heavenly Father that will have the last say so concerning your entrance into His eternal kingdom, not some loud mouth who keeps boasting and pointing people to their own works and creations. Bottom line, yes there may be people that have spoken words that brought life to your spirit, but remember it is God’s word that brought it, not mans’. So learn to rightly divide the difference so that you can go directly to the source of the river of life. These people that are being spoken of in the book of Jude are not those that deny God, well at least not in word, but rather those that claim to be of God but in works deny Him, pointing the people more toward their creations and not the new one that God began within you. Don’t put people on pedestals because they don’t belong there; all mankind, no matter who or what they claim to be; this is one bad decision, one temptation away from falling from grace into sin, no matter how strong or bullet proof they claim they are. Rightly divide the word of truth, learn to separate soul from spirit; in other words what is of God and what is of man. Many today that stand in the pulpits claiming to be working and speaking on His behalf are more self serving than God serving, pointing people to other people rather than pointing them in the direction of the Spirit. In fact many today still point and put most of their emphasis on a man named Jesus, rather than a man named Jesus Christ, who is seated at the right hand of the Father working as a mediator on our behalf. Knowing the difference between that which is of the flesh and that which is Spirit is vital in order for you to come to a clear understanding of God’s plan of salvation and how it truly operates; or as it is described in the Bible, a mystery. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (KJV) You know, once again God reminds us that He is not a man, nor is He the son of man, yet so many still try to claim Jesus was God despite what the word of God is clearly saying. The point is that we are the ones that were made in the image and likeness of God, not the other way around as so many think or try to dictate to God. The more you realize and allow God to be your one true source for strength and life, the less likely you will fall for mankind’s versions of who they think God is, based on their limited carnal thinking and not the unlimited mind of Christ that is available. So get rid of the pedestals people, because the higher you put someone on them and the higher they choose to climb them, the farther and harder the fall will be when reality hits you and them in the form of truth. Psalms 146:3-6 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. (4) His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. (5) Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: (6) Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: (KJV) God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
