Timeline of the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Tuesday Jesus ate an early-evening Passover meal with His disciples (at the beginning of Nisan 14, Jewish reckoning) and instituted the New Covenant symbols (Matthew 26:26-28). Jesus was then betrayed by Judas, arrested and during the night brought before the high priest. Wednesday Jesus was crucified and died around 3 p.m. (Matthew 27:46-50). This was the preparation day for the annual, not weekly, Sabbath, which began that evening (Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; John 19:31). Jesus' body was placed in the tomb at twilight (Matthew 27:57-60). Thursday This was the high-day Sabbath, the first day of Unleavened Bread (John 19:31; Leviticus 23:4-7). It is described as the day after the Day of Preparation (Matthew 27:62). Friday The high-day Sabbath now past, women bought and prepared spices for anointing Jesus' body (Mark 16:1; Luke 23:56). Saturday The women rested on the weekly Sabbath, according to the Fourth Commandment (Luke 23:56; Exodus 20:8-11). Jesus rose around sunset, exactly three days and three nights (72 hours) after burial, to fulfill the sign of Jonah. Sunday The women brought the prepared spices early in the morning while it was still dark (Luke 24:1; John 20:1). Jesus had already risen (Matthew 28:1-6; Mark 16:2-6; Luke 24:2-3; John 20:1). Also in 2017 we posted a video called Good Friday which included the timeline as well. God bless and have a very blessed day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Good morning. Today's video Good Friday is on the topic of what Good Friday has to do with the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 12:38-40 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. (39) But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: (40) For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (KJV)
A number of events are going to take place this week, events based on man’s calendar and not on facts. Someone or some religious organization decided that our Lord was crucified on a Friday, and then labeled that day good Friday. Our Lord was very specific in pointing out that after His crucifixion, He would spend three days and three nights in the heart of the earth before resurrecting. Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. (KJV) Just to back it up with a second witness, we see that Jonah the prophet did spend what I am sure was a miserable three days and three nights in the belly of that fish. Christ our Savior spent three days and three nights in a very unpleasant place as well so that He could pay the Spiritual price for our sin, and then rise victoriously with the keys of hell and death. Acts 2:30-32 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; (31) He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. (32) This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. (KJV) Now folks, our Lord got Himself in a hell of a predicament so to speak for our sake, so that we would not have to. So when mankind tries to tell you that our Lord was crucified on a Friday, and then rose on a Sunday, well that just doesn’t quite add up does it? So why bring this point up, or even bother with what must seem trivial and petty to many? Well simple folks, because if you are letting something so simple and obvious as this slip underneath your spiritual radar, how many other sneak attacks has the enemy gotten by you’re so called shield of faith? After all the last time I looked the bible was specific in the fact that the truth would set us free, not fables. Williams New Testament translation for Galatians 4:9-11 9. but now, since you have come to know God, or rather have come to be known by Him, how can you turn back to your own crude notions, so weak and worthless, and wish to become slaves to them again? 10. You are observing days, months, seasons, years. 11. I am beginning to fear that I have bestowed my labors on you for nothing. You know Church, it is one thing to have gotten duped in our past before our conversion in Christ, it is quite another to let the enemy pull the wool over your eyes again in the form of a veil, the truth that gets veiled and disguised by manmade worldly religions and doctrines. If you truly plan on moving forward in your walk with the Lord and growing and maturing in Christ, then you will need to study the truth for yourself, and then go on a Spiritual exercise program so that you don’t get bent out of shape with a bunch of other carnal Christians. How about studying to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that has rightly divided the word of truth and not just what man tries to pawn off as truth. Dearly loved, have a very blessed and prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
