1 Corinthians 8:5-6 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. (KJV)
Who is really number one in your life? As child of God, and a believer in Christ we see it should be narrowed down to the one who won back our lives for us while we were sitting on death row waiting for our sentence to be carried out. Psalm 12:1-4 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceases; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things: 4 Who have said, with our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? (KJV) Simply put, anything outside the realm of one will put you in the category of number 2. Unless one makes our Lord their one and only priority in life it opens the door back up to a lot of things, none of which is what our Lord intended for you. Out of the abundance of the heart your mouth will speak depending on what is deposited in your spiritual bank. So make sure you keep your account open with daily deposits or you will end up with a NSF notice, non sufficient faith. James 1:5-8 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraided not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavered is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (KJV) When I see the term double added to the equation, I see that it rhymes with trouble, both of which seem to go hand in hand. Romans 3:3-4 For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? 4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, that thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. (KJV) There is only one realm where you will truly be considered an over comer; did you seek the kingdom of God first and stay put, or did you go sailing on the dead sea with high wind warnings of false doctrines predicted, doubling the odds that your ship wouldn’t stay afloat? God bless dearly loved, and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. (KJV)
The last couple of weeks we have been using this chapter to illustrate the experience of being born again. We see that those who operate only in the realm of the flesh cannot be pleasing to God, and base their walk on their own doctrines. Those who choose to walk in the realm of the Spirit will be able to judge or discern things spiritually and know for themselves who God is and how to walk effectively in His realm. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV) The enemy of the Lord will try to entice God’s people back into the realm of the flesh, making them think that they can find peace and fulfillment there; and many of mans’ doctrines and religions are based more on a worldly foundation, than on the foundation of Christ. Colossians 3:9-11 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (KJV) That old man and way of thinking needs to stay dead and buried in order for you to truly walk in a newness of life. God is no longer looking at the outward man, but He is looking within to see if a new creation is coming to life; someone He can work in and through. Ephesians 4:22-24 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV) God has created a whole new life and a realm for you to walk in, but only when you walk away from the carnal influences and ways of thinking. This renewing of the mind should be taking place on a daily basis, because after all, we are either with the Lord or against Him. Psalm 92:5-6 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. 6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. (KJV) By renewing the mind in Christ it will allow you to go deeper into His realm. The flip side is that when we are in the flesh and limit Him to the carnal mind then we revert back to a realm that is brutish which is another word for stupid. Romans 8:9-10 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (KJV) With God all things are now possible; however, if you try to handle things on your own you go back to the impossible again. Salvation is truly a gift, but only when renewed in the present. God bless dearly loved, and have a very prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that
we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. (KJV) The plan of salvation is not something that you are going to experience with your outward senses; rather you need to be reborn into the realm of the Spirit to see what is happening there. The Spirit is able to take you beyond the realm of the flesh and into something much deeper so that you can receive the things of God firsthand and walk in the newness of life. John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (KJV) The Lord gave us His Spirit so that we could access His realm and start to experience heaven here on earth. His giving of the Spirit to us is like giving someone your personal phone number so that they can access you directly and get the information they need. He gives us the only Spirit of truth that will give you any real comfort, while anything else will leave you dried out and thirsting for more. John 14:26-27 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (KJV) The peace of God will last forever, while the peace that man offers is short lived. The Holy Spirit was sent our way to teach us personally who we are in Christ and how to walk effectively in His realm. I John 2:20-21But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. (KJV) Have you been a bit bored with your life and things seem a bit stale at times? This unction or anointing you have received of God allows you to go beyond the realm of the flesh and into a new and eternal one of the Spirit allowing you to see all things, not just those in the flesh, but those of the Spiritual realm as well so that you can be complete in Christ. Proverbs 28:5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things. (KJV) If you have a treasure you would be a bit picky about who you entrust it to. Well, the Lord is the same way concerning His Spiritual treasure. Seek first the kingdom of God and make Him your top priority, and He will reveal more of Himself to you in return. God bless dearly loved, and have a very prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:7-8 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (KJV)
It’s bad enough that mankind crucified the Lord when all He did was come to this planet and show us a better way of life. However, it’s just as bad if not worse when mankind keeps crucifying Him all over again with their fallen interpretations of His word. Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (KJV) The reason the word impossible is used in verse 4 is because what once started out as a walk of faith, has now turned into a walk of fake. When you allow your own desires and lusts to take over rather than overcoming them, you re-enter the realm of impossible because you are no longer in a place where the Lord is operating, a place where you are letting Him reveal Himself to you personally along with His plan of salvation; and by your disobedience you are crucifying Him and His doctrine all over again. Hebrews 10:26-29 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? (KJV) Once you have received knowledge of the truth it is required that you continue in it to the end, otherwise you will be considered a transgressor. As gruesome as the crucifixion was to Jesus of Nazareth, many are continually crucifying the Son of God as well because of all the fallen doctrines that man tries to pawn off as truth. 2 Peter 2:20-22 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. (KJV) It’s safe to say that puking dogs and dirty pigs are not something that you will find in the heavenly realm, but only here on earth; and as disgusting as these things are to the carnal man, it somewhat describes how disgusting mans’doctrines are to the spirit man as well. God bless dearly loved, and have a very prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:6-7 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: (KJV)
In the coming months we will focus on the terms “hidden” and “mystery” to find out what and who God is revealing to His people. Without this revelation you see where many that have been called of God are not responding to Him, and why only a few are truly chosen. Matthew 11:25-27 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. 27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. (KJV) Given the fact that no man truly knows who the Father is, let alone His Son, then the question begs to be answered, why do so many keep looking to man for the answer? When you were a child you took everyone else’s answers and opinions as gospel truth. However, that is not going to work in your spiritual life because God requires you to hear firsthand who He is, and what name He is revealing to mankind that will allow them access to His throne. Matthew 16:15-17 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (KJV) In our Lord’s time people were quite familiar with Jesus of Nazareth according to the outward man. Many knew who his parents were and the fact that he had brothers and sisters. Many today still look at the outward man Jesus, but fail to see within to know who the Son of God is within this man. Inside you will find that Christ is the rock solid foundation that the true church is built upon while all others will crumble. Colossians 1:26-28 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: (KJV) As you do your own studies of the New Testament look for yourself and see who God is revealing to His people when you see the word mystery, or the words hid and hidden. You will find that it has a common spiritual denominator. 2 Corinthians 3:14-16 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. (KJV) Are you tired of playing peek-a-boo with the Lord yet; and are you tired of those childish religious doctrines you have been following? Then why not get rid of the spiritual blinders and let God show you who you really are in Christ this day. God bless dearly loved, and have a very prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:6-8 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (KJV)
The wisdom being referred to is a spiritual wisdom from above; revealed to those who desire to worship the Lord in Spirit, and just as importantly, in truth. Those who are referred to as perfect in verse 6 are the ones that have matured in Christ and are now walking in His wisdom, because they have walked away from their own. 1 Corinthians 13:9-10 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. (KJV) People have a partial understanding of things based on their limited outward interpretations; however, the real growth and maturity takes place when you eliminate the outward and see in the realm of the Spirit where you will have more of a perfect or mature understanding of how salvation truly works instead of being tossed back and forth like some dried out tumble weed in winds of doctrines. 1 Corinthians 13:11-12 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (KJV) I can look back at some of the childish things that I have done even after having been born again; however, once I was able to get the blinders of my childish ways removed, I was able to see a more clear and perfect way of serving the Lord in the realm of the Spirit. Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity. (KJV) There comes a point in every believer’s walk where they arrive at a crossroad, one where they either continue to walk closer to the Lord, or begin a downward spiral by walking back into the realm of the flesh. If you are going to truly mature in Christ and know His doctrine for yourself then you will find that you will need to remove the childish influences of your past in order to do so. Dearly loved, have a very blessed and prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:5-6 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught: (KJV)
Paul spells out the plan of salvation because of what he heard firsthand though the Spirit. In fact he heard so well that God used him to pen most of the epistles. Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith. (KJV) Knowing the gospel of Christ is what allows you to tap into the power source, and you will find that Christ desires to reveal Himself to you personally so that you can go from faith in what you have seen outwardly to what you are now seeing inwardly. The gospel of Christ shows us how to die to self so that Christ can resurrect and become alive and real to you. 1 Corinthians 1:17-19 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. (KJV) The doctrine of Christ does not point people to dead end, outdated rituals, but shows you how to walk in the power and wisdom of God. This is foolish to many because they are all in when it comes time to be blessed, but no shows when it is time to die to self. 1 Corinthians 1:23-24 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. (KJV) In these last days the enemy of our Lord has a title; do you know what it is? Antichrist, because he does all he can to keep the believers from tapping into the wisdom and power of God. The doctrine of Christ not only gets the attention from above and allows you to be a receptacle of the blessings, but it also makes you a target of the enemy because you are exposing the truth. Galatians 1:15-16 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (KJV) When you were born, the first thing they did was cut the umbilical cord so that you were no longer drawing your strength from that source. The first thing our Lord desires to do for His people when they are reborn, is to attach a Spiritual cord so that you can draw your strength from Him, and allow Him to be your source of life. Dearly loved have a very blessed and prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:3-5 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (KJV)
Paul realized, as you also will, that in order to be strong, you have to become weak. Paul who was well versed in the old law found out that he could not rely on what he learned in the past, but would have to be re-taught all over again how to walk in the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. (KJV) When someone posts an ad for a job opening they look for the most qualified person; however, when God posts openings for His kingdom, His calling is not based on an outward pedigree, it’s just the opposite; and change came in my life when I looked in the mirror and realized how weak and pathetic I was. By getting out of the way I was able to give the Lord something to work with. 2 Corinthians 12:6-8 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. 7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. (KJV) I used to think that if I studied more and tried to come off as bullet proof to others that it would make me more effective in the Lord; but every time I reverted back to works, just the opposite happened. I found out what doesn’t work, and that is anything outside the realm of faith in what our Lord has done, and not what I think I am doing on His behalf. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (KJV) I found that when I am open and honest with people I can relate much better with them so that they don’t feel like they are weird or ungodly because of things they have done in their past. In fact, the more I come clean with God and His people, the more they will open up. God bless dearly loved, and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. (KJV)
When Paul was preaching he wasn’t looking at how big a following he had, but looking inwardly at God’s people to see how much of Christ they were allowing to work in them. When you search for truth what are you looking for, an outward show? Or are you looking for a doctrine that truly feeds the inward man? Galatians 2:20-21 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. (KJV) Jesus Christ had a large following for a season, however, it didn’t last. One week they were hailing Him as king, and the next they were railing on Him; and come time for the crucifixion not many stuck around. You will find as you deliver the doctrine of Christ it will not be popular either, but it’s the only one the Lord gives credence to. 2 Corinthians 4:15-18 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (KJV) When you were born again in the Spirit, you also died. The outward way of seeing and understanding now ceases so that a new way can be revealed to you, and the more you die to self and learn to trust in the unseen realm, the less the outward appearance of things will have an influence on you. Galatians 6:13-15 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. 14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. (KJV) Here is what separates the children from the adults spiritually. When you quit getting caught up in the outward religions and rituals of man and allow Christ Himself to show you the true interpretation of His word. God is no longer looking at the outward, but is looking within to see if there is new life. God bless dearly loved, and have a very prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:1-3 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. (KJV)
Paul the apostle gives his own rendition of this born again experience, separating spirit and soul, or in other words separating what the Lord is revealing to him compared with what he has heard in the past. One of the definitions for testimony in verse one is mystery, something that was hidden in the past that is now being revealed. You will find out for yourself as Paul did that this revelation did not come from other people, but first hand from God’s lips to his ears; that being his spiritual ones. Colossians 2:2-4 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. (KJV) In Christ is hid a wealth of knowledge, something that cannot be bought or found in the carnal realm. This revelation will give you a full assurance of who you are in Christ and all the spiritual blessings that He has blessed His people with. We also see the warning issued because many have allowed someone other than Christ to give them a watered down inferior version of the mystery because they have leaned back to their own understanding. Galatians 1:9-12 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. 11 But I certify you, brethren that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. (KJV) As you move ahead in your walk with the Lord you will find some of the influences from your past are more carnal in nature than spiritual. It is at that point that you will need to choose to take up your spiritual cross and die to those that choose to hold more to the outward, what I refer to as a religious realm, rather than walking in the new life that the Lord died to give us access to. So ask yourself honestly today, are you getting your information firsthand or are you going to let someone other than God dictate it to you? God bless dearly loved, and have a very prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
