Williams New Testament translation for Matthew 6:4-6
4. so that your deed of charity may be secret, and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you. 5. "Also, whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners, to attract the attention of people. I solemnly say to you, they already have their reward. 6. But whenever you, follower of mine, pray, you must go to your most private place, shut the door, and pray to your Father in secret, and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you. God’s realm is different than man’s realm, one is spiritual one is carnal. If you wish to operate in the realm of God then it will take a certain mindset to see into this secret or hidden realm, the mind of Christ. How do you look at people and determine who they truly serve; do you base your assumptions on the outward as many do, or do you look to the secret inward man to make your determination? When you attend an organization do you base your fellowship with them by the size of the building and how nice the people are, or are you looking for something deeper, something with some spiritual depth and truth? 1 John 4:1-4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (2) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: (3) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (4) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (KJV) Actually there is a test, a simple way to truly determine if someone is of God or what could be categorized as a not exactly, close but this isn’t a game of horseshoes. Remember when the Lord said many are called but few are chosen? Well, we see in the above verses what has happened to the many and is still happening. Simple, but they just don’t pass the test, the spiritual discernment that separates the men from the boys, the can do people and the wannabes. If the teaching and preaching doesn’t focus on Christ, the inward spiritual Son of God that was leading and guiding a man named Jesus, then they haven’t come to a working knowledge of the mystery of the gospel; which sad to say is still a mystery to many. While many teach and preach in the name of Jesus, they in essence have got the cart in front of the horse, or in this case they put more emphasis on the outward than the inward. However if one goes through the New Testament and sees what the mystery of the gospel is and the name that was and still is revealed to God’s people, it goes way beyond just a man named Jesus the son of a carpenter. Those that confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh have a personal working knowledge of who the Son of God is and what is the only true hope that will get us access to His kingdom. When I hear people end their prayers in the name of Jesus and those that write books about all the power in his name, it tells me they don’t truly know God or His mystery, a secret that they are still in the dark about. The only way one can be whole and complete, to grow and mature in the things of God, is by knowing the mystery of the kingdom of God which is only found in Christ, while anything less is antichrist. Which if one is not for Him then they are against Him. 1 Timothy 2:5-7 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (6) Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. (7) Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. (KJV) You know, if the word of God says there is only one mediator between God and man, and our God is not one to lie, then anything else is just that, a lie. If you were to ask people today what their access code is to their bank account, most everyone would be able to tell you exactly what it is so that they can access it. But ask people what the spiritual access code is to heaven and you will find few that truly know the answer to this secret. Just like with an access code to a bank or a computer, if you leave out any part of it you don’t get access in. Is it any wonder then that the enemy is referred to as the spirit of antichrist and not anti Jesus? You wouldn’t leave any part of your code out to get into a bank account, why would you omit the most important part to get access into your spiritual account as well? Why be half right, when you could be all right? The fact that God used His people to write about His mystery and the sufferings they endured for it as well, it would do you well to give heed to His message and know that the scriptures were given for our benefit to see into His secret realm. 2 Corinthians 5:16-18 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (18) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; (KJV) Again we see that we should no longer be looking after the flesh or the outward, but rather into the inward new creation to find the answer to the mystery of the kingdom of God. The things of this fallen realm are old news, same o same o, it’s in Christ that all things are new because you have entered a new realm of the Spirit that is eternal. Remember God said that He is a Spirit and so is His Son; so if you are going to know Him and how to operate in His wisdom, it can only be accomplished through Christ that you can be a new creation in Him. God is not a God of the dead but of the living, so old things and old thinking needs to be passed away, dead and buried, so that a new man can resurrect in you. John 4:22-26 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. (23) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (24) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (25) The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. (26) Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. (KJV) Many today don’t pass when it comes to the heavenly test because what they call worship is mostly done in vain, something that looks good to the outward but does nothing to further the growth of the inward. Jesus had an answer to a secret, and that answer was in the direction of Christ, the inward new creation that was within Him and is within you also. Here is a test, a homework assignment if you would, go back through the scriptures and see if you can find a common denominator to what the Lord called Himself and what name He gives credence to. After all what better example could we have than the one that already passed the test from above and is now seated at the right hand of the Father? Test the Spirit and know this, that if you don’t know or are unable to pass it today don’t wait until it’s too late to know the secret that will get you access into God’s kingdom. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Matthew 6:4-6 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (5) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (6) But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (KJV)
Seeing in secret, which is how our Father views people, now refers to something hidden or concealed, the inward man. Those that God reveals Himself to are the ones that serve Him in Spirit and in truth doing all things heartily as unto Him and not seeking accolades or recognition from man. To the natural or carnal man it is foolishness to think that a God in heaven would encourage, let alone actually speak to people; but to those that have been enlightened into the realm of the Spirit it is something expected, hoped for. Romans 8:24-25 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? (25) But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. (KJV) Strong’s definition for ‘hope’: 1679 elpizo (el-pid'-zo); from 1680; to expect or confide: KJV-- (have, thing) hope (-d) (for), trust. What is your hope today and where are you looking to find it? Are you still looking in the outward realm to find the answer or secret that has been concealed, or are you able to see the inner workings of our Lord to establish that trust and confidence? In an election year there are many promises, people claiming to have an answer to what many are hoping for, a better life. The truth be known, that while many promise liberty they themselves are still servants of corruption, having sold out to the world and its fallen ways. A true believer in God will find the answer in a secret hidden realm, that of the Spirit which is not seen by man but open and on display for those that seek to find Him. 2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (KJV) God sees in secret and desires for His people to seek their answer in this realm as well. While many preach and teach of a better life in this fallen temporal realm, few look and truly walk in an eternal hidden realm, the only one that will give an eternal reward. Today many still teach and preach about a man named Jesus seeing only the outward man. But there was so much more to this man than the human eye could see, and those that truly knew our Lord understood the inner man, a secret spiritual man named Christ. Those that are still stuck in the temporal realm have only a temporary incomplete answer, while those that tap into the spiritual realm will find the eternal one. While your alms or so called good deeds look good to man, many of which come in the form of religion, there is a true body of Christ that knows what the only hope is that will be pleasing to our Father. Colossians 1:25-28 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; (26) Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (27) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (28) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: (KJV) Paul explains his calling to teach and preach about a mystery, something hidden and concealed, but now made known to mankind, a secret that is now out. Our only hope, expectation of glory is found in Christ; and the only way one will find that they are able to grow and mature is in Him. Christ is the power and wisdom of God, the Spirit that leads and guides us on the only path that will lead to eternal life, while anything else is just a false hope. If you wish to tap into the inner workings of our Lord, the secret hidden things, then you will only find it through Christ Jesus, the one and only mediator between God and man. What are you hoping for today; are you still looking to the outward or some man to find the answer to the secret of our Lord, or have you gone deeper in your search to find the true answer to a spiritual mystery? Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; (5) One Lord, one faith, one baptism, (6) One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (KJV) Simply put today, it is one and done; one body of believers which is the body of Christ. One Spirit; which if any man has not the spirit of Christ then they are none of His; and as we just read one man is our only hope of glory, you got it Christ. According to the word of God it all adds up to Christ, while anything less would just be hopeless and futile. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) (6) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. (KJV) There are a lot of cheap imitations out and about in this fallen world, many things or people that claim to have the answer. There is only one answer though that will be accepted by our Father, and that is a spiritual answer to a spiritual secret which is being manifested to us by a working knowledge of His Son Jesus Christ. Do you know the answer to the secret? Someday you will be asked to give it before our Father; why not let that be today. That is my hope for each and every believer in Christ, God bless. Have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Matthew 6:1-4 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. (2) Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (3) But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: (4) That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘secret’: 2927 kruptos (kroop-tos'); from 2928; concealed, i.e. private: KJV-- hid (-den), inward [-ly], secret. Wanted, someone willing to serve a God in heaven because they love Him and are not concerned with what people think of them. This person must be highly motivated, willing to endure much grief and suffering because they hold God to be true to His word despite the many winds of doctrine of man and all their own carnal interpretations of salvation. The successful applicant must also be willing to worship God in spirit and in truth, no longer led by the desires of the flesh but led by the Spirit, being renewed on a daily basis. If interested, please respond by calling God through His Son Jesus Christ, the one mediator between God and man. When responding to an advertisement we see terms and conditions that are required in order to be a part of an organization or company. When responding to the call of the Lord you will find a God that looks in secret, or the secret inward part of man, the motives of our heart. If the Lord finds someone trustworthy, then He reveals His secret to them as well, similar to someone getting hired with a company and given access to the inward workings of it. What are your motives for serving the Lord? Is it based on love and commitment or are you doing it to be seen by man? If to be seen by man, then you have your reward and not our Father’s. Psalms 25:14-15 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. (15) Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net. (KJV) When you see the word ‘fear’ it doesn’t refer to someone trembling and shaking, or knees knocking, but rather someone who reverences and respects the calling of God. We have all had secrets that we didn’t want everyone else to know because we didn’t trust them, so we would only reveal it to those we did trust, those that knew how to keep a secret. Did you know God has a secret; something He has kept concealed but now is readily revealed to His people, something that has been kept hidden from mankind? As I look around today I don’t see many that are aware of His secret, because obviously the motives of their heart are not right with the Lord. Most of what and who I see claiming to be speaking and teaching on behalf of the Lord are more of a people pleasing ear tickling lot, than a God pleasing one. Romans 16:25-26 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, (26) But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: (KJV) One of God’s true saints, someone that God entrusted with His word and secret was a man named Paul, who despite a shaky past had the right motivation for serving our Lord. When you read what God had Paul write concerning this secret, a mystery that is hidden to the carnal man but readily revealed to the spiritual one, we see once again His preaching was based on Christ, the hidden inward man. What a secret to reveal, and why this man endured such opposition; because the more God used this man to expose this mystery the more it exposed and still exposes those that are not of God, thus the term antichrist. Like the Lord Himself said, those that are not with Him are against Him, if two are not in agreement then they can no longer walk together. If you don’t know this secret, if you are not aware and have a working knowledge of this mystery, then you are still in darkness and unable to know the true spiritual meaning of the scriptures. Mark 4:21-23 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? (22) For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. (23) If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. (KJV) The reason God revealed this mystery is so that His people could walk in the light and no longer kept in the dark. Jesus Christ is the true light that gives us knowledge and insight into the inner workings of God and His plan of salvation, while anything else is impossible without Him. This light was not meant to be hid, but rather openly displayed and manifested so that all could walk in it. Today I still hear many who teach and preach in the name of Jesus, but few look into the inward man which is Christ to find the true enlightenment and answer to this secret. Is the candle under your bed because you are still asleep or have you picked it up and started to walk again? Isaiah 45:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. (KJV) The treasures of God have been kept secret, and mankind was kept in the dark until the sacrifice of Jesus Christ gave us the keys to unlock these hidden things and reveal it to His people. Can you think of anything that could be more treasured than to have our Lord call you personally by name and consider you one of His family? Where your treasure is there will your heart be. So when the Lord comes a knocking on your door will you open up to Him and let His light shine in, or will you be a shut in? The secret is out, given to mankind in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, have you received it? God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. Mark 4:11-12 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: (12) That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. (KJV)
Isn’t it nice to know something or someone before you commit your life to it? Better yet isn’t it nice to know that you have salvation before it is too late and you committed the unpardonable sin, that being unbelief, where you stand before God some day and basically tell Him He is a liar? Unto you, yes you right now this day, it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God so that you personally can see and perceive the things He has for you. A mystery is something hidden, concealed, and covered up to mankind and his carnal thinking but readily revealed, open, and exposed to those that have their spiritual senses enlightened to the things of His realm. Mark 4:13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? (KJV) If you are not able to comprehend and know for yourself the mystery of the kingdom of God then you will continue to be in darkness and unable to know the things of God and the meaning of His word. So what has been given to mankind that they need to know, and is there a common denominator that will enlighten me to the things of His realm? Ephesians 3:1-5 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, (2) If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: (3) How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, (4) Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) (5) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; (KJV) Thayer’s definition for ‘mystery’: 3466 musterion- 1) hidden thing, secret, mystery a) generally mysteries, religious secrets, confided only to the initiated and not to ordinary mortals b) a hidden or secret thing, not obvious to the understanding c) a hidden purpose or counsel; secret will: 1) of men 2) of God: the secret counsels which govern God in dealing with the righteous, which are hidden from ungodly and wicked men but plain to the godly 2) in rabbinic writings, it denotes the mystic or hidden sense: of an Old Testament saying, of an image or form seen in a vision, of a dream What was made known to Paul by revelation and the knowledge he taught and spoke of was the mystery of Christ. Christ, the hidden inward man, the son of God dwelling within Jesus of Nazareth, who was leading and guiding Him in the things of God; who was dwelling within Paul giving him knowledge into the things of God as well. Many people I hear today who claim to be speaking on behalf of our Lord teach and preach in the name of Jesus without a working knowledge of who Christ is, something that obviously is still a mystery to them, something they haven’t had personally revealed to them either. Ever wonder why Paul had so much hardship and persecution? Ever wonder why the enemy of Christians is referred to as the spirit of antichrist, and not anti Jesus? Obviously there is a name and a revelation, a mystery the enemy would like to keep secret, locked up and kept from the people of God to tap into. Colossians 1:25-28 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; (26) Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (27) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (28) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: (KJV) The perfection, maturity, and completeness will only be found in Christ by those that come to a working knowledge of who they are in Him and how they too can access all these spiritual riches that are given for them to know. Verse 26 is clear to point out that this wisdom is manifest to the saints, the true saints of God that preach and teach in the name of Christ; while all the others are still operating according to their own understanding, basically standing on the outside trying to look in through a veil. Colossians 4:2-4 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; (3) Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: (4) That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. (KJV) Our prayers today should be for those that are called to teach so that they can give utterance to this same mystery and speak words that will make manifest this mystery for all of God’s people to see and know for themselves. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (KJV) The mystery of Christ, the Spirit that allowed Jesus of Nazareth to be justified by God and received up into glory seated at the right hand of the Father. Unto us it is given to know and not just guess what the answer of this mystery is; which is what every person will have to give someday before our Father. The question today is, do you know for sure? God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. John 3:27-28 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. (28) Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. (KJV)
Back in the Lord’s short time here on this earth people were looking for a Messiah to manifest which they thought would take place in the outward realm; some wonderful spectacular event for all the world to see. While many continue today to look in the outward realm also, or as we see in the above verses at other men as their savior; few understand what was truly given to us from the Father which is manifested and brought to light through His Son, the hidden inward man. What are you receiving today; is your information and knowledge coming from above, or are you settling for second hand knowledge of man that is limited by their carnal thinking? Do you know for sure that the steps you take today are of faith; in other words those that God is asking of you, or are you following some man-made plan of salvation that doesn’t quite add up to our Lord’s standards? Salvation is a gift given to mankind from above, and just as you would be offended to give something of value to someone close to you only to find out it wasn’t appreciated or that they didn’t take the time to read the instructions before putting it to use; how it must hurt our Father to have so much to give to mankind only to see it ignored and discarded for a cheap imitation. Psalms 37:23-26 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. (24) Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. (25) I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. (26) He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. (KJV) Where are you heading today, and who is truly directing your path? Are you taking the time to receive your instructions from above knowing they are in order with our Lord, doing the things that are pleasing in His sight? Even though at times we do sin and fall short of the glory, the Lord is not casting us aside but rather like with a parent teaching a child to walk, He is there with His hand outstretched ready to pick us up again and get us back on the path of life. John 15:4-8 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (6) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (7) If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (8) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. (KJV) Again we see the word nothing, which without the Lord’s leading and guiding in our walk we cannot do those things that are pleasing in His sight. As a branch grafted into the tree of life the only way we can live and continue in this new life is if we continue to receive our nutrients from the source. As newborn spiritual beings in Christ we need to receive and continue to nurture this new being inside us with spiritual food and drink in order to maintain a healthy relationship with our Father. Those that reject our Lord’s plan of salvation have broken off the line of communication with their Father; they are no longer receiving His living waters and they will dry up and die of thirst, eventually being burned. John 3:14-18 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: (15) That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (KJV) God gave us a Savior, and gave Him a name above all names so that those that received this revelation should not perish but have eternal life through this name. Verses 15&16 use the words ‘should not’ not ‘would not’, because the choice is still ours to choose this day who we will truly serve and whether or not we will truly receive the gift of God which is eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ. Acts 4:7-12 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? (8) Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, (9) If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; (10) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (11) This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) God gave mankind access to eternal life, and only one name under heaven gives us this life so that we should not perish but receive our eternal reward as well. It’s a given to the people of God who our one mediator between us and God is; as well as the whole name that will make us whole and complete in Him, that being Jesus Christ. It’s a given, have you got it? God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:46-50 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. (47) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. (48) As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. (49) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. (50) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (KJV)
Someday you will stand before God seeking to enter His eternal kingdom to receive your reward of inheritance. As we see noted in the above verses it will take more than good looks, an abundance of money or a familiar family name here on earth to gain access into this realm. You will need to bring more to the table than your good works or what you thought were good; rather it will take a working knowledge of the Son of God not only to access His realm now but to gain an eternal access. Knowing, not just guessing is vital in order to receive your inheritance. After all God didn’t send a Son our way to do a half hearted work on our behalf, but one that completed the task and provided our way of escape. It will take more than just a so called church membership or a bunch of religious rituals in order for you to obtain your inheritance as well. Acts 10:36-38 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) (37) That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; (38) How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (KJV) If you notice at the end of verse 38 it says God was with this man Jesus of Nazareth, as He is with any and all that are anointed with this same Spirit that He was. It doesn’t say that Jesus himself was God anymore than you would claim to be God, but rather He allowed the Spirit of Christ to lead and guide Him on the only path that led to eternal life. The Bible is quite clear to point out that if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, then they are none of God’s people; rather they are those that chose to follow the way of the flesh on a path of destruction. In order for you to gain access into the kingdom of God today, right now, you need to have this same anointing working in and through you in order to do those things that are pleasing to God and bring forth fruit to perfection. Again simply put, you have to bring more to the table of God than just good intentions or what you think are good works, but rather a willingness and obedience to the Spirit of truth. It is vital that your focus and attention, your priority, is more directed to the spiritual realm so that you will be less concerned with the things of this fallen one. John 14:23-27 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (24) He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. (25) These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. (26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (27) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (KJV) If you notice in verse 23 you see how the Father and Son work in unison to make their abode or home within the believer. You don’t see Jesus claiming to be God, but rather as is with us He allowed this Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to teach Him the things of God and not to rely on flesh and blood thinking. Also by the way, take note that this same Spirit will bring all things to our remembrance because it will come from the heart and not the head which is what many of man’s Bible memorization programs are based on. While the world and worldly people base their peace on the outward appearance of things, the peace of God, which surpasses way beyond our own understanding, will continue despite what the outward dictates. God is a Spirit, so if you wish to relate to Him and understand the workings of Him, then it will take more than a carnal understanding to know Him and the leading of His Spirit within you. The more you get to know Him the more you will realize just how much greater He that is within you is than anyone that is in the flesh and blood realm. John 20:27-31 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. (28) And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. (29) Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (30) And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: (31) But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (KJV) This man Thomas couldn’t quite comprehend the things of our Lord because he held to his own understanding rather than the truth. How strong are you today, and are you holding fast to the things of God which are not seen by man but readily revealed to His anointed? What’s in a name, well according to the Author, everything as we see in verse 31, that the purpose of this book having been written is to reveal the only name that we will find life in, that being Jesus Christ. Do you know the name that gets you access into the kingdom of God so that you can see beyond the veil of the flesh and understand for yourself the truth that will set you free, or are you like Thomas reaching out to the carnal realm to satisfy your spiritual understanding? You truly wish to access His spiritual realm? Then you will need to know the Spiritual name which is above all names in order to gain entrance. Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (11) Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (KJV) If you don’t stand now in the Lord and the power of His might you will fall for anything, and any cheap imitation of the enemy. The whole armor of God is Christ, the only name that will make you complete in Him and give you the power to withstand all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Your opponent is not flesh and blood as many think, but is spiritual in nature, a fallen nature that will take a Spiritual being within you in order to stand. While many put a physical face on the enemy and wrestle in the realm of flesh and blood, which by the way the enemy enjoys watching the show, few really know who they are in Christ and the victory we have through His name. 2 Corinthians 5:16-19 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (18) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; (19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. (KJV) Is your old man, that old nature passing away, or are you the one passing away in a dead world trying to serve a spiritual God with a carnal mind? Are all things new to you because you are accessing a new realm of the Spirit on a daily basis, allowing a new man within you to resurrect and have His way, or are you like Thomas poking around in the flesh and blood realm seeking an answer? Many people talk about a man named Jesus and preach in his name, while few understand the unseen man within, Christ the only hope of glory. If you wish to access God today then you will need to bring more to His table than a flesh and blood name in order to gain access and receive your inheritance. And the only name given under heaven which is complete and whole is Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:48-50 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. (49) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. (50) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (KJV)
Someday a total transformation will take place with all the believers that chose to hold God to be true and man the liar, including their own carnal thinking. By the way, you don’t have to wait until the day of judgment to bear the image of the heavenly which is Christ in you now, the one and only hope of glory. What we clearly see in the above verse is quite simple, two realms that differ as much as night and day. While mankind still holds to the flesh and blood realm which keeps them in darkness, those in Christ have found His enlightenment to be their source of a new life without fear or a shadow of doubt. Flesh and blood, and its way of thinking, cannot enter nor be an inheritor of the kingdom of God; neither is God going to allow something corruptible into His incorruptible realm as well. How you access God and His kingdom today will determine how well you know the Lord and how well known you are of Him. Galatians 1:15-17 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, (16) To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (17) Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. (KJV) Paul not only makes the distinction that his relationship with the Lord was not based on any man but also the fact that he went straight to the source. He is very emphatic to point out that he didn’t run to the apostles that were before him, who actually walked with the Lord while He was here on earth, but rather he was able to hear first hand for himself who the Lord is and how to access His kingdom. Today many people claim to have the answer which they base more on a large following or the approval of mankind rather than on a personal revelation of who Christ is and how important it is to teach His name. Are you one of those who are more apt to chase after mankind or something or someone you can see, or are you going to be still and hear the Lord for yourself, and know that He is Lord of your life? Galatians 1:18-20 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. (19) But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. (20) Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. (KJV) I am certain that Paul was told by many that he should go find the apostles of the Lord so that he could learn from them; thus the reason why he was so emphatic to write that the things he was speaking were not a lie. In fact if you go read the account of what happens when Paul does meet up with Peter some 14 years later you see that there was a confrontation between the two of them, and the point Paul was making was in line with God. The point is that it took boldness and confidence to confront one of the Lord’s apostles and tell him he was out of line, and then to deliver the correction as well; a confidence and boldness that did not come from any flesh and blood man but rather first hand from a Spiritual source. Matthew 16:15-17 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? (16) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (17) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (KJV) Are you still looking in the flesh and blood realm to find the answer that our Lord is asking all mankind; and has that answer been revealed to you personally? If you think someday you are going to gain access to a heavenly realm with a carnal answer you will find yourself on the outside looking in, eternally, knowing what was available and why you sold out. A spiritual kingdom has a spiritual access code or name, and only one name will get you into His realm today so that you can enter the eternal joy of the Lord, and that He can say well done good and faithful servant. While I hear so many preach and teach in the name of Jesus, which by the way is a common name among mankind, I hear a very few that know the name of Christ and the power of it. Could it be that there are just so few that have given heed to this revelation and have allowed the spiritual to have more of an influence than the physical? Could this be the reason why there is so much opposition to this name, even to the point of why the enemy is referred to as a spirit of antichrist and not anti Jesus? You say the name of Jesus and you are referring to a man that walked this earth and to many a man that still go by this name, but you add the name of Christ to it and you have now accessed a totally new and different realm, one the enemy doesn’t desire to see you get into. Philippians 2:8-11 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (9) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: (10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (KJV) By the way that name which is above every name and the one every tongue should be confessing and needs too in order to access the kingdom of God is Jesus Christ. While many claim it is just Jesus, the only reason He was able to live a life without sin and present himself a living acceptable sacrifice was by the leading and guiding of the spirit of Christ within Him, which made it a complete package. Without Jesus of Nazareth having the Spirit of Christ within Him to allow Him to be the first born or born again into this realm, He would not have been able to make reconciliation for a fallen dead world. If you personally do not have the Spirit of Christ working in you as well as a working knowledge of who the Son of God is for yourself you are none of His, but rather walking blindly in a dark carnal realm with which it is impossible to please God in. Colossians 2:8-10 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (9) For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (10) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (KJV) The most important factor, the most important piece of a spiritual puzzle is Christ. Because once one is able to see who they are in Him then they are able to see the plan of salvation for themselves. A carnal flesh and blood man cannot relate to a spiritual being without the Spirit of Christ to bear witness and allow His spiritual light to shine in our hearts. Many people go to God through different names and paths that they think will enlighten them, but the word of God is quite clear to point out which name will get them into His kingdom and allow them to continue in it bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit to perfection, full maturity. Has God revealed Himself to you personally through His Son so that you can in turn access His kingdom and find out who you are in Christ? This is the one and only name that is above all others, and the only name that will make you complete in Him; while anything else will leave you stuck in the fallen realm of mankind and dead end rudiments and traditions. Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (11) This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) Mankind advertises many packages and things that they try to back up with guarantees, hoping this will entice others to buy into it. The word of God is quite clear on what name will get you access into His kingdom and allow you to continue in His spiritual realm rooted and grounded and not moved away. Jesus Christ is the complete package, the complete name that will make you whole; while anything less is based on a flesh and blood interpretation that is not exactly, and not what our Father acknowledges. Don’t be half right, let the truth and the whole truth set you free and keep you free indeed. God bless and His best to all this day. Have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:49-50 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. (50) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (KJV)
In order to be a partaker of an inheritance one must be a member of that family. God is a Spirit so only those that worship Him in spirit and in truth will be partakers as well as inheritors of His kingdom. Many people think that someday they will go to heaven and then see all their family members, and there will be a great reunion. However the truth be known, once you accepted the Lord’s plan of salvation you were adopted into a new family with a pure bloodline, that being the blood of Christ which cleanses us from all sin and allows us to be a part of His spiritual family. Luke 8:19-21 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. (20) And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. (21) And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it. (KJV) Which realm do you hold to now; in other words which one has the most influence in your life, the spiritual or the flesh and blood realm? Despite the fact that our Lord was very clear in who His family truly is, today many still hold and put more value in the fleshly realm than the spiritual one, and then wonder why their relationship with the Lord goes stale. If you were brought up in a Christian home that’s great, but what if those of your own household were not likeminded with you? In fact many times those of your own household may be more of a hindrance than a help to your spiritual welfare. My question is today, did the Lord make you the savior of your physical family, or does His word give specific warnings on how to handle these situations? Mark 6:1-6 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. (2) And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? (3) Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. (4) But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. (5) And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. (6) And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching. (KJV) Isn’t it interesting that the Lord Himself wasn’t given the royal treatment when around His own physical family, in His own country? So if our Lord didn’t fare to well with flesh and blood what makes you think you will either? Why let the enemy lay a guilt trip on you because you think you are a failure if your family doesn’t get saved the way you think they should? Let me share this tidbit also, at the end of verse three we see that they were offended in Him, which by the way included His physical family. Before you pack your bags to embark on a guilt trip, realize that you are in good company if some are offended in what you believe, even those of your own household. The theory of relativity doesn’t work with God; in other words once you entered the kingdom of God and sought out His righteousness you entered a whole new realm populated with a whole new spiritual family in Christ. Many people still look and see only the outward man, as with Jesus, they judged according to the flesh and blood line, and were unable to acknowledge who the Son of God is, who was standing in front of them, which was Christ in Him the only hope of glory. Today the majority of people still have this veil on their heart and only give credence to the outward, while a few ever truly come to a working knowledge of the inward man Christ and become partakers of His divine nature. Psalms 69:7-8 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. (8) I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children. (KJV) Did not our Lord say that if they persecuted Him they would do it to you also? Whether you believe it or not, Jesus of Nazareth’s own flesh and blood family were not on board with where the spirit of Christ was leading Him; which eventually ended up at a cross. While many teach and preach that you should be holding to your physical family until they get saved, the truth be known that the word of God is quite clear that the realm of the flesh is contrary to that of the Spirit. It is basically like trying to mix water and oil together. So Church, if you don’t quite jive with those of your own household don’t take it personally, because quite frankly you are in good company and good standing with our Lord. Matthew 10:34-38 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (35) For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. (36) And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. (37) He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (38) And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. (KJV) Choose you this day who you will serve, because no man can serve two masters, and a house divided will definitely fall. The Lord said quite clearly that they who were not with Him were against Him. So just because you made a decision to serve our Lord doesn’t mean everyone else around you will. The question now becomes, if you are not finding peace where you are at, and around those you have been familiar with are you willing to move on in order to maintain that peace you have with God, or will you keep trying to find peace in a realm the Lord said it wouldn’t be found in? Nobody said it was an easy path to heaven; now the question becomes, will you take up your own cross in order to follow our Lord no matter who or what form it manifests itself in? When the Lord put these instructions in the Bible they are put there for our benefit; like throwing a lifeline to someone about to drown in destruction and despair. Luke 18:28-30 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. (29) And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, (30) Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. (KJV) We just talked the last couple of days about relationships, those between a man and a woman and why we entered into these situations. Your life in the past was based on flesh and blood, the carnal mind that chose things that were pleasing to the flesh and not the Spirit. Now that you are a new creation in Christ old things are passed away and all things are become new, including your family in Christ and who our Lord now considers are your brothers and sisters in Christ. Maybe these people you are surrounded by are just not edifying you anymore and it is time to move on; again, no matter who or how it manifests. The question today is which realm are you holding more to, the Spirit or the flesh? Because while one will allow you to continue in your walk with the Lord, the other is a dead end that will have you coming up short if you continue to hold to an anchor and not a lifeline of escape. Revelation 21:4-5 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (KJV) Do you wish to partake of a new life? Then that needs to start today in order to partake of it for an eternity. While many people think that someday they will see lost loved ones based on flesh and blood ties; the truth be known, a spiritual God is only going to allow spiritual people access to His kingdom. There will be a family reunion in heaven that will be based on those in Christ; His brothers and sisters that chose to be lead of the Spirit and not the flesh. If you are unable to recognize the spiritual now then don’t expect to be recognized by a spiritual being in the here-after; because they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Who do you consider to be your true family; is it the family in Christ and what His word says, or are you holding more to the traditions and doctrines of man? God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:15-16 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. (16) For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? (KJV)
Before packing your spiritual baggage and going on a guilt trip, stop and consider before boarding a potentially sinking ship. Make sure you know ahead of time what you are getting into before boarding a vessel that is getting ready to set sail on the dead sea with winds of doctrine predicted also. So you decided that you were the one and only that God could use to save your unbelieving husband or wife as verse 16 makes reference to? Now that they have departed you think you failed God and did something wrong? Basically what you are saying and what gets taught in many religious organizations, is that it is your duty to be the savior and make sure your significant other gets saved. I have heard the phrase spoken so often that “God hates divorce” even to the point that some make it seem like it is some unpardonable sin. The truth be known is that marriage is only temporary; in other words it is something that takes place here for our time on earth and does not carry over into the eternal realm. There is a divorce God does not look kindly on and that is when one divorces themselves from the truth of God and His plan of salvation, and falls for the lies of the devil and his cheap imitations. James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (KJV) You ever hear the term high maintenance? That is what happens when you end up with someone more concerned with earthly things than the things of God. Spiritual prostitution, selling oneself out for a thrill in the flesh; something that can be a huge distraction to a believer who desires a relationship with God. My point, having dealt with a situation like this myself, is that maybe the departure is a blessing in disguise; so before you gather your prayer groups together and pray this person back into your life, watch what you ask for. Matthew 5:31-32 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: (32) But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. (KJV) Many times these verses are looked at in the literal or physical context, and not the spiritual. As we just saw in the verses from James, many husbands and wives are cheating on the Lord with their spiritual adultery and have separated themselves from Him. Again, how can two walk together unless they be agreed? And if one or the other partner in a relationship is more concerned with the things of this dead fallen world, then the believer ends up carrying around dead weight. I can assure you that if the Lord says something is dead and needs to be discarded, and He then makes a way of escape, it would do one good to take heed before they end up dead also. Exodus 34:14-16 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: (15) Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; (16) And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods. (KJV) God is a jealous God because He knows that His way and His plan for mankind is so much better than what we could ever ask or think. Just like with a parent raising a child, you envision a life for them of blessings, and how it breaks your heart to see them end up in a life of misery and despair because of bad choices and decisions. Also as a parent when you see your son or daughter has made a bad choice concerning a husband or wife, you reach out and try to stop them before they get to deeply involved in a destructive lifestyle. Ezra 10:10-12 And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel. (11) Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. (12) Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do. (KJV) The spiritual is greater than the physical, and as we see God has dealt with situations throughout the Bible where His people are in a bad place because they are unequally yoked with someone unhealthy to their walk, and He provided a way of escape for them. Your spiritual welfare is of more concern to our Lord than your temporal marital status here on earth, and should be yours also. 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (KJV) I have seen times where a departure of an unbeliever is actually a way of escape being provided by the Lord and not some failure on your part as the devil would like many to think. That heartache and misery you have been experiencing, the confusion and doubt that has been dogging you and sucking the life out of you was doing more harm than good. While the Lord is throwing you a lifeline so that you don’t end up drowning in frustration and despair, the devil is throwing you the line to an anchor of a sinking vessel, guilting you into thinking you must go down with the ship. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (2) Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (KJV) Know this, that if an unbeliever departs, the person they departed from first was God. That person you have been married to may have once been a true believer, but like we see in the above verses has departed from the faith. Like with a bus schedule, they give you departure times as well as arrival times; in other words you can’t depart from something unless you were actually there at one time. Seducing spirits, doctrines of demons that appeal to the lower fallen nature of man, spiritual adultery, which ends up separating them from the love of God. My point today is, no you don’t take your marriage lightly or look for a way out because you want to find something better. The message God has for today is that the spiritual is so much greater than the physical realm, and if there is something or someone that is hindering your walk and needs to be let go of, then heed the way of escape and don’t be taken in by some phony guilt trip. I have seen some of these so called Christian men who treat their spouses like some robotic slave, demanding respect and obedience to them when they are nothing more than shallow flakes. If you are in a situation where you are married to someone who is more like a dictator than a loving Christian, and they are pulling you down rather than building up, be assured this is not something our Lord would want you to continue in, but will make a way of escape if you are willing. Don’t let anyone pack your bags and try to send you on some guilt trip, because when people try to make you think that by being separated or divorced is a failure, the truth be known, is that they are just telling you that they hold more to the physical than the spiritual. God is more concerned with your eternal marriage than your earthly one; so if He has made a way of escape, heed the warning and cancel the guilt trip. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:27-28 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. (28) But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. (KJV)
Williams New Testament Translation for 1Corinthians 7:27-28 27. Are you married? Stop trying to get a divorce. Are you unmarried? Stop looking for a wife. 28. But if you do get married, you have not sinned in doing so. And if a girl gets married, she has not sinned in doing so. But those who do will have trouble in their earthly life, and I am trying to spare you this. One of the common mistakes being made among Christian believers is the illusion that marriage will make their life complete, even if it means marrying someone who is an unbeliever. Paul not only spoke of this, but as we see in verse 28 he was bringing a warning to the people so that they could avoid the trouble they would encounter for their actions; which let’s face it, is based more on a carnal desire than on a spiritual one. Rather than seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness many try to fill a spiritual void with a physical solution, or so they think, and then wonder why they end up crashing. Like with a roller coaster ride it may go up slowly but once it peaks it will go downhill fast. Another common occurrence that takes place is the believer marrying someone for their potential; that someday they will change into a Christian just because you decided so, rather than making sure ahead of time it was so. Rather than holding your ground and not caving into your own desires you bought into the highlight reel the devil was showing you of all the things you were missing out on, how complete and fulfilled your life will be with this person. So a life that you said was the Lord’s and you were dedicating to Him is now replaced with another influence, something you claim you just can’t live without in order to serve Him. Getting involved with people because of what you perceive as potential, someone you think you can mold and shape into something Christian or Christ like is flirting with disaster. A common occurrence I see taking place in the Church. Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (KJV) How can two walk together and continue to stay together, like minded and in agreement unless they are of one mind and one heart? The fact that you decided to enter a relationship on iffy ground, or a foundation built on sand, tells me that the compromise has already taken place; and rather than hold your ground you are caving in. You think you can handle the situation, no problem, ‘what’s the big deal? He or she is a nice person’. Well let me give three names just for starters, and you can go back and see the common denominator in what they allowed into their walk with the Lord, and how much good it did them; Samson, David, as well as his son Solomon. Isn’t there enough to deal with in our walk with the Lord without inviting another distraction into it? You think you’re strong in the Lord and can handle the situation, but the truth be known just the fact you engaged in these relationships in the first place says a lot about where you truly stand with the Lord and how quickly you were willing to compromise your beliefs. Matthew 7:17-18 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (KJV) You know, you get into the middle of these situations and then wonder why it doesn’t work out the way you thought it would? If you plant a weed, should you expect potatoes or apples to spring up? If someone isn’t rooted and grounded in the truth then they are not going to bear the fruit of the Spirit. It’s just that simple; and that is why we see the warnings in the Bible. Know this also, the euphoric ride you have been on will come back down to earth in the form of reality, and then you will have to deal with the long term effects of your decisions. It’s interesting that if one was walking toward a busy street they would take their time and look both ways before crossing, yet when it comes to our spiritual life many are quick to run forward without looking both ways; in other words, not just looking at the highlight reel of our decisions but the consequences also. You may violate man’s laws at times and not get penalized but be assured when one violates the law of faith there are definite consequences, not only in this life but in the one to follow also. 1 Corinthians 7:29-35 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; (30) And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; (31) And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. (32) But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: (33) But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. (34) There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. (35) And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. (KJV) When things are written in the Bible they are written for your benefit, whether you believe it or not. God is not trying to rob you of a blessing or holding back from you as the enemy would like you to think by getting you to buy into the lie that everyone else you know has that special someone in their life and now it’s my turn. If two are walking together in the things of the Lord they will be agreed, not only with themselves but with the Lord. However if you are in a relationship that is not truly based on the Lord then you will find it is a distraction; something that takes away and pulls you down rather than building you up. Before you engage or decide to become engaged with someone, for your own sake make sure your motives are for the right reason and make sure it is based on reality and not potential (someone you hope to mold and shape into a godly person). I have seen too many well intentioned believers fall for the illusion that the person they decide to hook up with will become a good husband or parent, only to find out that when their reality check comes in it ends up bouncing for lack of truth. So don’t be fooled and don’t think that the enemy isn’t aware of this weakness, and like a wolf will prey on those who didn’t take the time to pray on this matter truthfully and act accordingly as well. Mark 10:4-9 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. (5) And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. (6) But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. (7) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; (8) And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. (9) What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (KJV) The hardness of the heart that is being spoken about is the fact that the children of Israel married outside of the people God had commanded them to, and then ended up worshipping the false gods of these foreign nations. Sound familiar. You know that thing about evil communications corrupting good morals; well it has been going on for a long time, and like a virus continues to spread even today. There is big difference between what God joins together and what our lower fallen natures become attached to. While God’s intention is for two to become one and walk together in the realm of the Spirit, the enemy would like nothing better than to see the believer unequally yoked with the nonbeliever and end up with a big distraction. So before you put on your rose colored glasses and allow your imagination to run wild in some fairy tale land, make sure you look both ways before saying I do, because the devil will only show you the highlights while the Lord will give you the truth as far as consequences. Many a good intentioned Christian have been taken down and blindsided because they chose to flirt with disaster rather than deal with the reality of their decisions, which are based more on a carnal desire than a spiritual one. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
